Stand Therefore

As we begin to read in verse 14 ( ), we notice the words “Stand Therefore”.
Ephesians 6:14 KJV 1900
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
This is the 4th time Paul has given this exhortation to the believer. I believe that the Paul and the Spirit is wanting us to understand that God wants us to stand.
As mentioned last week. God wants us “to Stand”. He wants us to stand firm in our faith, trusting him and his ability to protect his children. He also wants us to stand believing the promises found within the scriptures.
Not only are we to be in a standing position, but we are to have put on the whole armor of God. Also mentioned last week we aren’t to just put on what feels comfortable or right we are to put on the Whole armor. We aren’t to leave any piece off.
We are to put on the whole armor of God to protect ourselves. We are not to be outwitted by the wiles or schemes of the devil.

The Belt of Truth

Today, we begin breaking down and looking into each piece of the armor. The article we will be looking at today is “The Belt of Truth”. We read about it in verse 14; “having your loins girt about with truth”.

Satan is a liar

Satan is a liar () and he fights or attacks with lies. Sometimes these lies may appear as fragments of truth. Remember that says satan himself appears as an angel of light and his demons as ministers of righteousness.
John 8:44 KJV 1900
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
John 8:44 KJV 1900
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
2 Corinthians 11:14–15 KJV 1900
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
2 Corinthians 11:14 KJV 1900
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

Loins girt with truth

Its funny or curious that the first article of armor mentioned is the belt of truth.
It all starts with the truth. Not man’s truth or understanding of the truth but on God’s truth and His understanding.
Question when does truth become truth?
We cannot distinguish between God’s truth and satan’s lies without reading and studying God’s word. It is very important to know God’s word, you could even say that your life depends on it.
The believer whose life is controlled by truth will defeat satan and his lies.
The Girdle or Belt held all the other parts of the armor together.
To tell you the truth, if the girdle was lost everything would be lost.
Just like the belt or girdle to the armor the truth is the integrating force in the life of the victorious Christian.
A man of integrity, or a clear conscience, can face the enemy without fear.
We are told to be girted with truth in the face of our enemy. Who is our enemy? our enemy or adversary is the devil.
1 Peter 5:8 KJV 1900
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
The girdle or belt also holds the sword or its where the sword attaches to the armor.
The sword as we know is the very Word of God. (we will be discussing this at a later date.)
Unless we practice the truth, we cannot use the word of truth. Once a lie gets into the life of a believer everything begins to fall apart.

In Closing

We need people to give out the Word of God and give it out just as it is written.
We need people whose loins are girt about with truth. We need people that know the Word of God because this world and the inhabitants of this world needs to know the truth!
What is truth? Jesus say in that he is the truth. Men, women, boys, and girls all need the truth only found in Jesus and they all need the salvation that only he can give.
John 14:6 KJV 1900
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Remember as we go through this study to keep your eyes on Christ, resist the devil and according to “he will flee!’
James 4 KJV 1900
From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another? Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
