5 Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, 6 saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.”
7 And Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”
8 The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10 When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! 11 And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 12 But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” 13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.
Great Faith Trusts in the Lord

Great Faith Trusts in the Lord
Jesus performed many miracles of healing.
All these pointed to, and confirmed, the real purpose for coming, to heal the soul! (; ; ; ).
12 When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
5 When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.”
6 And some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, 7 “Why does this Man speak blasphemies like this? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
8 But immediately, when Jesus perceived in His spirit that they reasoned thus within themselves, He said to them, “Why do you reason about these things in your hearts? 9 Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise, take up your bed and walk’? 10 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the paralytic, 11 “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” 12 Immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went out in the presence of them all, so that all were amazed and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!”
The Centurion’s servant had an obvious ailment.
Sadly, many suffering the sickness of sin don’t realize how sick they are!
51 The proud have me in great derision,
Yet I do not turn aside from Your law.
59 I thought about my ways,
And turned my feet to Your testimonies.
37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”
30 And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
Blind men came to Jesus to have their sight restored, He asked them if they believed He was able to do it ().
Do you believe that Jesus is able to heal you of your sins?
That He can change your life and give you hope for eternity?
Do you have the trust of Great Faith?
18 “Come now, and let us reason together,”
Says the Lord,
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool.
12 As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth.
To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,
11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,
4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
Great Faith Acknowledges Authority
Great Faith Acknowledges Authority
He used a very clear illustration to define this faith.
The same Lord who had such authority over disease has authority to command us!
He not only had authority over disease, but also over the very elements!
27 So the men marveled, saying, “Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”
He has authority over all things in creation!
20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
22 who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him.
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Matt. 28:18-19
He most certainly has authority over all things to do with our salvation.
9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,
14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
How sad that so many who acknowledge the Lord’s authority to heal (save) ignore His authority to command!
46 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?
48 He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.
8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Great Faith Respects Sovereignty
Great Faith Respects Sovereignty
Most of Jesus’ healing miracles were done in person.
This one, however, was accomplished without regard to distance.
It has been nearly 2000 years Jesus walked this earth!
We have never seen Him, His miracles, nor heard His voice in person (cf. ; ).
8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
29 Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
But does He have any less authority today than He did then?
Would it be any different if He stood here in person to say...
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
24 Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”
3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
1 There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? 3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
