Heaven Cries out for an Intercessor.

Ezekiel 22:27–29 NLT

They actually destroy people’s lives for money! 28 And your prophets cover up for them by announcing false visions and making lying predictions. They say, ‘My message is from the Sovereign Lord,’ when the Lord hasn’t spoken a single word to them. 29 Even common people oppress the poor, rob the needy, and deprive foreigners of justice.

Ezekiel 22:27-

The situation of the world at the time. Vs 1-26 are just as disturbing. But the most disturbing part is found in verse 30

30 “I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn’t have to destroy the land, but I found no one.

I looked. God speaking. I searched. God speaking.

If He could find someone to rebuild the wall and stand in the gap, the end result would be. He would not have to destroy the land. THE SIN WAS DEMANDING JUSTICE.

Stand in the gap. Take a defensive stand: “God speaking: I need someone to take a defensive stand against the consequences of sin.

How Many Does it Take to Intercede?

Some - ONE!

God Could Not Find Some - ONE.

Ezekiel 22:31 NASB95

31 “Thus I have poured out My indignation on them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; their way I have brought upon their heads,” declares the Lord God.

Ezekiel 22:

31 So now I will pour out my fury on them, consuming them with the fire of my anger. I will heap on their heads the full penalty for all their sins. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!”

We See this played out in other areas of the Old Testament.

In : God is about to pour out fire and brimstone on Sodom and Gomorrah.

Gen 18:23

23 Abraham approached him and said, “Will you sweep away both the righteous and the wicked? 24 Suppose you find fifty righteous people living there in the city—will you still sweep it away and not spare it for their sakes? 25 Surely you wouldn’t do such a thing, destroying the righteous along with the wicked. Why, you would be treating the righteous and the wicked exactly the same! Surely you wouldn’t do that! Should not the Judge of all the earth do what is right?” 26 And the Lord replied, “If I find fifty righteous people in Sodom, I will spare the entire city for their sake.”

Why was God so willing to destroy the cities?

Turn away from your fierce anger. Change your mind about this terrible disaster you have threatened against your people! 13 Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. You bound yourself with an oath to them, saying, ‘I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars of heaven. And I will give them all of this land that I have promised to your descendants, and they will possess it forever.’ ” 14 So the Lord changed his mind about the terrible disaster he had threatened to bring on his people.

Was God just having a bad day?

Why did he want to destroy them so badly?

Sin demands justice.

Moses stood in the gap for the people.

As New Testament Believers, are we holding back Heaven’s Wrath?

Isaiah 53:1-12

When I intercede now, I am not holding back Heaven’s wrath,

I am declaring a finished Work from Heaven’s perspective.
