Open up to 1st Peter chapter 4. We got a few weeks left in 1st Peter and they were going to finish out here this morning. So why don't we give this first six versus a read? It says since there for Christ suffered in the flesh. Arm yourselves with the same way of thinking? Who ever suffered In the Flesh has ceased from sin? As to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human Passions. But for the will of God. For the time that has passed suffice is for doing with the Gentiles want to do living in sensuality passions drunkenness orgies drinking parties and Lawless idolatry with respect to this their surprise when you do not join them in the same flood of debauchery, and they malign you. They will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead for this is why the gospel was preached even to those who are dead that they're judged in the flash the way people are they might live in the spirit in the way that the way that God does Father give us Direction and inside as we spend time in your word. Now. Amen. Amen this morning. One question that really motivated and moved. My heart. Some was pressed upon me for this text and it's actually going to drive us for the rest of this morning and it's the idea of what drives you What motivates you? What causes you to say? Yes to some things and no two other things be it good or bad for you. Are we surely controlled by outside influences Amazon? and Google do a really good job at this whole idea being influenced by outside desires. Don't they look at our search history. They look at the things that we purchased and bought and all of a sudden you're scrolling through things. You think you may need but you probably don't or you're just Googling something online and there's an advertisement for whatever it was you were just looking for where there's mine is distilled Facebook internet is filled with Domino's Pizza me. I'm pretty sure they do a good job of putting before you what they think you want most and by this they believe through advertising they can influence us to act on our inside desires. Are we surely controlled by outside influences, though? So they they really buy into that and I want to touch you. I can give another great example of this around Christmas time had a little bit of extra money. That's fantastic and I've been running a lots and working out enjoying that I really wanted some wireless headphones. So I started researching some nice wireless headphones and they have these Apple earpods that are cool to make you look ridiculous. Maybe you've seen the house and then they have us mother in ear ones that called Jabra and there's a kind of the nicer of the two and so for about a month I researched these things. I don't like to spend money, but I knew that this is something that I wanted in for about a month-and-a-half. I kept getting a. After a dove knockoffs of both these Brands until finally had seen enough at and I decided to purchase one of these things because until I purchase these it got to the moment inside of me right thought until I have these I'm not going to be happy or satisfied until I finally get these My possession because of how much they were put before me and in my face once I started doing some research. I almost had to have them just to survive so they put this visual before me. Looking ways to tell me that if I have them I'll be loved or accepted and take this to a greater degree than headphones. Cuz headphones do not do that. Unless you're in the cult of Mac which Apparently that is something so so what drives us. crisis

What wins out in our lives we're making decisions? Maybe you've seen the 18 year old graduates from high school, or maybe you were the 18 year old that graduated from high school or have 18 year old that is graduating from high school and they got their first full-time job. They're making coffee. They're making coffee at Dutch. So for an 18 year old that you are doing well, or I trust me you're doing well how many times and maybe because I actually spent time in that industry. I personally saw this or add friends in that industry. You see that kid go out and buy the $80,000 F-150 And before that you look at them and you go this is not going to be a good idea. Definitely don't take it to my father-in-law's shop and get it lifted and put tires and rims on it because there is college too safe for there is a future family. You might have and spending $1,200 a month on a payment to both those places isn't wise but time and time again against better judgement from other people who live live longer people don't give ear to good sound advice. They do the dumb thing. Why why why?

Is what motivates and controls us is not just a visual of something. We see it. We want it. It's actually the inside and it's the heart. It's the heart. It's the desires a person who wants something the heart is always going to win out when the heart fixes itself on a desire. It takes control. It could become obsessed right and looking up and trying to figure out if I finally get this thing will I then be happy and satisfied because the park is the command center the control center of all of our actions are words in our desires. What I want us to see this morning is what you treasure in your heart is where you find your pleasure. What you treasure? 3 find your pleasure scripture in just a minute if you'd like to turn over to James chapter 4, but I want you to think about what you treasure in your heart is what you pleasure. This isn't always a bad thing. For example a treasure my kids greatly. I love my children. I spend a ton of time with them. I can't even find great pleasure in my kids. But if my kids become my ultimate source of pleasure to become the way in which I live my life. So as always to find my greatest hoping for stomach in men there will be times in my life because I treasure them so deeply that I make really bad and poor decisions. For example, this is not happening currently. All right, but say God rest upon my heart and my wife's heart to say, you know, what you need to be in the inner-city. Just can I do not want to live in the inner city inner city for us would be about Redmond Inn. City that's about as interested as we ever want to be or I just to give you an idea of where our hearts are at on this issue and have to press and push our children. God we find our pleasure far more than our children far more than God. Do you know what would happen if we could make a really good excuses and say not safe don't want to expose don't want them around the inner city kind of living work country boys. That's what we are or a country family. That's who we are and we can make all sorts of excuses and we could turn down with God is pressing Upon Our Hearts because what we treasure in our heart is where we find our pleasure and if our kids are ultimate And that's what we're going to July 10th and will say no to even good things are possible great things that God might have because we're ruled by them and not him some of us Treasurer work. We find our greatest satisfaction we find great contentment because in fact at work, I'm respected and I'm like 10 people say nice things to me. I find some sense of identity work is good respect is not bad. But when that is ARB treasure and the network is where we find our ultimate pleasure. It's going to absolutely direct our lives and we're going to say I'm going to put work before any and everything else which I begin to rack and ruin us. please Curtis James begins to talk about this in James Chapter 4 verses 1 through 2. He says turn on over there. He says this what causes corals and what causes fights among you is it not this that your passions? Your passions or your pleasures or at War within you you desire and you do not have so you hurt her? You covet and cannot obtain. So you fight and coral now the Springs have a really interesting point. What James is doing here in this word desire that we're seeing in First Peter the commands of the control center our heart which determines what we go after in this life is being brought up and brought into a big light spotlight. James the same. Do you know why you do all of the horrible things that you do? It's because of your hearts because of what you're delighting and it's because of your pleasure you treasure something and you think if I get this then I will finally be satisfied yet if he comes this vein, Run around that were constantly going about again and again and again and it says you're doing all of this horrible stuff to get what your heart one now. Have you ever heard the phrase even in the church? Just follow your heart.

Never had this should I get married to him or her or not? Just follow your heart. Should should I take this job or not? Just follow whatever in your hearts. Chinese are we here just follow whatever is in your heart.

And yet we read James or flip over to Mark chapter 7. This is really interesting. Jesus says 4 from within and verse 21 out of the heart of man come evil thoughts sexual morality theft murder adultery travertine wickedness the seat sensuality Envy slander Pride foolishness, all of these things come from within and they defile a person. How good is just following your heart sound? Let me go on Jeremiah 17:9. This is some of the wisdom sayings of Jeremiah when I talk about wisdom sayings it's much like the Proverbs and how they're written. The Proverbs are not written in a way that say if you do this, then this is always going to happen. But let me give you some wisdom. Let me give you some insight how to go with the grain of the way in which God created this world. And Jeremiah says this the heart is deceitful above all things and Beyond cure who can understand it. But when you're going through a difficult, so you're going through a time of life. We have to make this decision. So well-meaning person comes along and says just follow your hearts. I have to take a step back today and go is that really what we're told to do in the scriptures? Because we read again and again and again when people just follow their hearts, they find themselves in some really horrible and terrible situations.

At this point maybe we need to be a little suspicious of our hearts. A scripture declare something about them that is off. That isn't right. Who are you going to trust? Who you going to trust is a real important important Point here? I want to make his word God's word is better than the leading of our hearts. His word is better than the leading of our hearts David wrote the Psalms 119:105. Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path your word that guides your word that leads me your word that I measure all these crazy thoughts and ideas up against and here's what I want us to see this morning. God puts Impressions promptings and leadings on our hearts. He directs us he moves us.

You can press upon us and it's not see that God doesn't ever do that. Then we hear that were to act on it. It was this kind of prompting and leading you have Paul the Apostle and Barnabas sitting in a room with other Christians and their prey and the spirit leads them to send those two men out on the great extravagant missionary journey. But before we proceed on the promptings head on the impression that are placed upon our hearts before we shout it from the rooftops and let people know Maybe for a minute we take a step back and go. Okay. The word says in these different places. Sometimes my heart. Can be deceitful sometimes my heart and the leadings. I feel can be all about me. Sometimes. I need to take a check right there. And I need to say does this measure up with who God is and his word and his ways. Somebody might come to me and say I feel as if God is leading me down these roads and I can't discredit the fact that they're feeling something but does that actually line up with what scripture says is good and right in a way in which a follower of Jesus would walk so it might go something like this. My heart is telling me along with another ten bucks at the church is really messed up and we should just abandon it. And we don't need to gather on Sundays and I feel that impression on my heart. I would go. What does the word say? What does Hebrews say Do not forsake the Assembly of the Brethren to gather regularly even in Acts. We see the church coming together, which is descriptive not prescriptive. I understand that but they were actually creating a way of life to say this is how we're going to continue and to gather to break bread to spend time with one another. You'll get well meaning Christians who actually been hurt by churches and people in churches which surprise surprise their centers in here as if you're new here. Watch out. I promise you it happens yet yet. We don't ever see somebody going now. We should just bail on the bride of Christ. Turn up against his word. Oh, my heart is telling me right now. This is a season where I should just not have to be generous. I need to store up. What does Scripture say read and sexual immorality? That's really interesting to me and speaking of sexual immorality. Somebody might come to me and say yeah, we're married in our hearts. So it's cool that we you know fornicator whatever what does Scripture say our lives like I know I should pray and spend time with God.

But you know what? I get so much more validation and acceptance and love of my comments and likes section. Seriously, I mean shoot it feels good. I've written some articles before and then people like him like me feels great, but I can get so much more from that than I do from spending time with God. So phone before Bible. I want to see how loved I am. But yet the one who loved us most we put on the shelves because it's not immediate and there and present and validating us the way we wanted to. See our hearts are deceitfully wicked who can know it. I mean one day I can feel like God's taking me way over here because my heart is way over here in the next day and I'm going this direction. I have to look down and go poop can actually know this thing inside of me because it's all over the board sometime. And so what do we do? We come back to scripture. We come back to the word of God. We see where are you leading me in light of what the truth of the good news of Jesus says to me. How does this line up with what you're actually speaking to my heart because yes, I believe the Holy Spirit prompts and pushes us and lead and directs us but far too often. We just act so quickly on that that we neglect to even hold it up against his this truth. Is this what you're speaking? Is this ride God. The big problem is my heart is so stinking selfish and about me. I just said follow my heart. I fear that I would hurt a whole host of people. Cuz I can put on a good front but deep down is real jerky. Selfish nature nature. It's looking out. for me You think about this? When they were taken into Babylonian captivity, there were three men. There's a fourth Daniel, but there are at least three that we read about Meshach Shadrach and Abednego. The most comfortable thing for them to have done in that day and age would have been when that you can measure built this massive massive statue and is basically saying kneel down and worship the gods with us part Aiden idle worship. What do they do? You have been really easy to said we're going to die if we don't do this, so we're going to go ahead and bow down and ask for forgiveness afterwards. attends to be our hearts What did they do? They said your word is said to have no other gods. Before you know, we will not bend the knee and they put up their face in a sense and they said we're going to trust God even if the circumstance turns out poorly we're going to do what your word says not what our hearts there's no inclination of what the hearts of thinking. I'm just basing it off of what most human heart to think in that moment, and they said we're going to we're going to Not Bow Down He should get sent me in a section of scripture in 1st Peter. Skeeter's writing to a group of Christians and he's going to tell them something extremely important here this morning. And as he looks at them, he's going to say. You you score risen in Christ. Don't don't have this awful horrible desires. Don't let them over Rule and dominate you don't go back to the way that you want. We're living in his my word is so much better now Thomas Chalmers. He was this great great theological mind and this comes from like the 1700. So it just shows you how we're still living right rear living 300 years ago. He says what the heart loves the wheel chooses and the mind justify. This is one of my favorite quotes. I'll probably bring it up 10 more times in this next year with the heart loves the wheel chooses and the mind justifies. So whatever we fix our hearts on what are we think about whatever considers us really coming from the heart because what happens is the Wilden shoes is that in the mind goes I deserve this. I know this is why I can do this. So what are we to do treasure god, which will equal deep pleasure how by treasuring his word and his ways what we're talking about here this morning is rightly order desires. The gospel does not tell us to be desireless, but it tells us to put our desires in the right order in which God created psalm 37:4 delight yourself in the Lord and He will show you the desire path. You spent your whole life looking for this is not the light yourself in the Lord and he's going to give you sing Everything You Ever Wanted or wished for Saint the light yourself in the Lord and because you're dividing yourself in the Lord, you're going to go down the path. You find your heart most actually delighted in that is him. You think you need all the stuff over here? To make yourself happy to find pleasure. But it's going to be incredibly empty and vein as cheaters going to declare here in this section of scripture. Now. We just unpack this a little bit in first year since there for Christ suffered In the Flesh. We just read last week for Christ also and verse 18 suffered once for sins the righteous for the unrighteous. We talked about substitutionary atonement last week. We talked about Christ Victorious and he's rules He reigns he seated at the right hand if he took our place and Peter continues to stop processes and says since he has suffered In the Flesh ourselves with the same kind of thinking arm yourselves you're going to need to use this. That's why you want arms themselves because something is coming at you and you need to be ready for it. That's great. And one thing to have some sort of protection at home. But if you're in the wrong room, that's not going to help you is it you need to be armed and ready and he says arm yourself with this thinking Whoever has suffered In the Flesh has ceased from sin. He's not talking about us becoming some sort of sinless being with responded Jesus Christ, but it goes on and says so much to live for the rest of the time in the flesh is IDF In the Flesh and desires no longer for human passions, but for the will of God Tracy's from Saint cannot mean that you no longer said because ideas that kind of suffering In the Flesh which Peter is talking about it's better to suffer for doing right and it should be for doing wrong. She said earlier there for whoever has suffered In the Flesh has ceased from sins means whoever suffered from doing right and is still gone on obeying God in spite of the suffering that is involved. He has made it clear break with sin. Do you want to go? I don't know. I don't know. My walking with the Lord and I actually made a break with sin what we're told that upon responding to the gospel that yeah, you can sync to fight and made righteous and you've actually made a clear break with sin and one of the ways is actually manifest itself is when we suffer even for doing right and we continue to walk in The Obedience of Christ. He's talking about look at your break. You've actually met our desires not just to avoid paying difficult and hard situations, but it's to bring glory to the name of God. So Peter saying in verses 2 through 3 don't live in The Flash and old desires and the big question we have is now How do we go about this? He goes on to say you'd get this in times past you send the way in which they send that should be sufficient to tell you not to go back to it. Not to look at it and desired and crave it. This morning is the same for us. The three things this morning that I would talk about pertaining to what do you get after what drives you what motivates you and what brings you pleasure. It's three approaches. We realize that maybe we've got some wrong desires that people take to trying to get rid of that which weighs us down. There's the Blind and accepted proach. Dickerson you cannot do this. We're going to explore a little bit. There is the moralist approach. Friends we can do this and sometimes we do this and there's the gospel approach this idea the Blind and accept is what Peter is talking about here. Those who are blind to the truth of God are given in to every natural inclination and desired they have it in their heart and they are slave to it. Therefore. We look out at the world or maybe culture is a more familiar word will use and we see people acting and behaving in a way that is contrary to which we believe a person should act and behave especially if you've been brought up in the church and you say look you followed Christ in your hearts for Christ. This is what a life looks like that we're not perfect. We're striving for those who are not they are slaves to their own passion to their own lust to their own hearts. They're living out their fallen desires. This does not mean that people who don't know God if you're somebody in here you say I'm just exploring Christianity and you talking and classify me and putting me in this category. Whoa, wait a second. I'm not always doing evil. I'm not always doing Wicked. Don't put me in that box. Maybe you're not always doing the worst thing possible at the worst moment. I fully agree. Maybe you could show acts of kindness and generosity. We might want to explore some motive of why you do that I'm saying I wish people were not followers of Jesus live according to their fallen nature. Therefore dear Christians do not be surprised at your friends and neighbors who do not live like you live and they might even Mock and makes fun of you for the way that you actually do live because you don't run with them and spend your time and money and like the way that they do.

If we were to take a survey today. And you would ask people what do you think is wrong with Western culture? There might be some ideas. There might be some thoughts but for a lot of things that even within the church that we look at and say this is pretty jacked up. This is messed up or they may not necessarily agree with us on that disordered desires. Are normalized today.

Disordered desires are normalized. what I mean by that And what does she is a very current example? It's all familiar with the me-too movement. Turn on their heads, right? There's a lot of women. For coming out saying I've been abused. I've been hurt I've been objectified. I would say for at least a millennia now. Maybe longer this is been a part of society and culture. Why we've normalized we normalize the objectification of women in our culture and it's been accelerated in the 20th century, which was the nineteen-hundreds up till even the 21st century today. You have magazines and heroes that are not celebrated like Hugh Hefner who all about the objectification of women. You have strip clubs.

You have sitcoms actually celebrate. The kind of sexual desires that are played out in culture today that people are getting hurt behind the scenes because of all of this and we wonder why are we having this problem in society today? Because there's a disorder desire for sexuality God created and made sexuality. He actually gave you the very desire for sexual relationship with one another and he said this is good. This is right foot out of the confines of which I have created it will absolutely enslave torture and tear you up if you misuse this I don't wreck and ruin you. It is a culture we continue to go down the road even that someone would consider an apex of society were in Western culture were so smart with so accelerated. We're so far beyond what the arcade people are all about. We still struggle with this problem abuse and harm and hardship.

Why disorder desires are normalized in our culture today?

We don't drive by stars and band and oh my goodness. We just drive by stars in bed. Is there a part of our society when you go to Portland and you see that there's more strip clubs per capita than any other city in America. We're just like our society and culture. When we watch sitcoms and it's so normalized.

I think it's just part of it and then all of a sudden we say but it's hurting us. Tardiness crushing us. It's ruining us and we can do this all kinds of other disorder desires. This is what we call low-hanging fruit to be just easy to pick out to give an illustration of it, but it's something that Peter hits head hard here. He says look this is what you're giving into sensuality unbridled last excessive wantonness driven by your senses. I have to feed this. He's on to say passion. Nothing new here Genesis 3, they saw it was good. They desired it. They took they ate it same narrative just do manifestations because I want to talk about drunkenness. This idea of getting yourself to the Pains of reality. I just metaphors physically. I'm going to do this to deaden myself to the realities of the world the opposite of really living escaping. He has his word gorgeous and let me give you the description and I please know it's not what you think. I'm nocturnal and riotous procession of half drunken and frolicsome fellows This Is Awesome from the 1800 who after supper parade through the streets with torches and music in honor of Bacchus some other deity sing and play before the houses of male and female friends had to use generally a feast and drinking parties that are attracted to late at night and indulge in revelry menu goes on in such a lawless idolatry. Probably a summary statement unless you jealous, but it's saying you are partaking. in the passions of your hearts in the worship of the Demonic forces and gods has crushing you and caused me to even greater sin. And he's Chinese Christians. Don't run with these people anymore. I continually disappointed and search for pleasure. So, what are we doing? Is a problem. Let's just take me to for example. What's the answer? Society says let's legislate that's making rules. Let's make log let's make awareness. I'm in support of that. But guess what? It's not going to change the human heart. He thought I would argue. The objectification of women is being accelerated through social media today. Does being accelerated through Google and pornography sites? It's being pushed forward and even more graphic ways and in-your-face than ever before because it gets us acceptance lights and approval.

Answer the man who are pursuing that it does not bring happiness, but is bringing about temporal pleasure. You know, why because that is what you treasure.

It's the moralist even within the church will say let's legislate. Let's make rules. Let's make laws. Natalie Raticate it how is that gone for the last 1000 years? Should we done real poor that haven't we real poor job of that? Summer says immoralist will be unsuccessful and trying to displace his love of the World by reviewing the ills of the world misplaced affections be replaced by the far greater power of the affection of the Gospel. It is really two ways we go about this either by a demonstration of the world's vanity. So that the heart shall be prevailed upon simply to withdraw its regards from an object. That's not worthy of it. So some might say look if the sexualities a problem here's what you should do throughout your computer brought your phone throughout your tablet. Stop driving by stars. Stop looking at Billboards, and we're like, oh my goodness. I'm going to be a shot in because I cannot go anywhere without seeing some form of this being displayed around town. I think some people will approach their sinful Habits by trying to just withdraw themselves from it and you can take this with any issue that's going on in your heart today, whether it's anger abuse whether it's greed or selfishness we can think by simply withdrawing from society that were actually going to deal with the problem. And this is what the church tried to do for so many years. They said it's so bad out there and culture. The best thing we can do is withdraw from culture. But the problem we withdraw from culture is we as Christians now don't influence culture the way in which God would have for us. That is a serious problem Christians. We don't just withdraw to protect our own little hearts and our own little Souls because the mission of Christ is one of bringing people in how are you going to bring people in if you're not actually talking and hanging out with people?

That was so paranoid. The sin cooties are going to rub off on us. So we say withdraw withdraw withdraw, but that doesn't work.

It's another option or by setting forth another object. Even God as more worthy of a Detachment so that the heart should be prevailed upon not to resign an old affection, which have nothing to succeeded but you exchange an old affection for a new one. There's two ways in which this happens. You're struggling with something. You like man. I just can't go to bed at night. Can't go to bed at night without completely numb and out. On alcohol. I don't know if you start smoking weed everyday. And so so this habit that's one bad habit to have it. I'm just picking on some very culturally relevant Norms here that we all know. It could be I just can't relax in the sign em out on 5 hours of Netflix and ever my kids are doing and then who knows and maybe I'll trade the numbing out on Netflix for the numbing out on working out not exchanging 81 bad habit for a good habits working out to healthy and good but it's still not actually doing with the problem of the heart the issue of why were escaping why you feel the need to know I'm out. Maybe we think instead of getting angry because people make me so angry. Hanging out with people that will fix the problem. Then I won't be angry anymore. We're not angry anymore, but shoot what's wrong when I get around people anymore, which only just connected our lives and that's not healthy. But we get into these behavior modification and look behavior modification is not an evil dirty word. There are behaviors that need to change in our hearts and in our lives. I absolutely agree with that and there are some bad ones that need to have good ones that come in, but if we actually think that's going to bring about Trueheart change missing the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

You can't just exchanged habits what needs to happen the gospel brings change purses one and two again in chapter 4 since there for Christ suffered. Why did he suffer Verse 18 for Christ suffered once for sins the righteous for the unrighteous arm yourselves with the same way of thinking Whoever has suffered In the Flesh has ceased from sin. So as to live for the rest of time in The Flash no longer because Christ suffered because Christ died because the righteous student plays for the unrighteous. This is what Peter saying to us. Now you live according to the passion of Jesus Christ the passions of the will of God on yourself with this kind of thinking. Cheap fishing incentive to live a holy life and it's not based on fear. Based on his love. Based on his love and that's what this is Jenny not here. There's just more powerful affection motivation. When an ordinate desires now normalized once controlled Our Lives Christ saves us and this is why we don't feel normal as Christians anymore because we look at what is now normal and go my goodness. I can't believe I partook in that and my life is changed. This is the gospel way. The good news of Jesus Christ moving into our hearts to finish out with what Tom Merced and it kind of close out here this morning a new affection is more successful when replacing an old affection then simply trying to end it without planting it with something better. See what he's getting at is there are desires Ultimate Reality that needs to happen V reality that kingdom of darkness Kingdom of Light Christ coming in and say when asked followers of Jesus, we realize we have still this Fallen nature in which we still partake in Senate times we mess up we screw up with issues and problems we go. I don't want to progress to continue in the upside know what's happening. But I feel this draw towards it. So it's not enough to just understand the worthlessness of the world and the unhappiness that it brings the one must value the things of God far more and so we want to see lasting change begin to happen in our lives with his first or recognition and even a declaration of I need to change I need help this sinful habits is hurting and bringing about destruction in my life. It's acknowledging it, but it's not just simply ignore laging it. Such a shame I messed up and walking away. It's acknowledging it repenting of it and then inviting Christ to move in in place of it.

This is repentance friends. and is there a wrong desire? IG right now

this list here really compasses so much from Lost and sexuality to addiction to so many other things.

Atmosphere from many of us we say yes, Jesus has the power to save for maternity. There's no power to change now. So I'm just going to Blind and accept this fate of mine. This issue as I once thought I had control Now controls me. This must be my fate for the rest of my life.

Don't continue to run with them and run at that. Let me tell you something. You need to replace your love for whatever it is that is burning your heart. Whatever your heart desires and say Lord. I want to desire you more. I Repent of this I can bestest and I want to bring you in to my situation.

I'll leave you with one last ride quotes.

Desires for God and desires for sin cannot coexist in the human heart. There are two opposing affections one who always push out the other the only way that is possessed heart an old affection by the explosive power of a new one. You cannot stop it because of the it is always more than Behavior. It is rooted in your affection and what you love and what you were Brent we worship ourselves into whatever desires control us.

You don't just stop it by saying I'm done with it you worship your way out of it. Your heart has to be moved by who God is and what God has done in his glory that means spending time with him. His people praise and giving thanks inviting him to move in our hearts. This battle is real and I understand it. I get it. I want you to hear this this morning. There is hope for you. Yes, there's altimate help because your ultimate reality is placed in Jesus Christ as your follower of him, but there's also a reality that you can walk according to the will of God. He moves in US. So many of us need to begin to take that initial step of repenting from whatever it is that our hearts are being controlled by and then inviting him to move in. That place was Prime. I thank you for your word for the help of Jesus Christ. Thank you that you have changed our hearts and work in US. Got to pray for people right now who feel enslaved ensnared and trapped by fleshly desires.

They would arm themselves with this way of thinking. You have caused an ultimate break from that. We're not bound to our old desires and way of life. The way United ourselves with Christ and there is freedom in Jesus Christ. They were not enslaved being greedy. angry bitter addicted to that we have been changed by you and given a new heart. And this morning I pray there be a recognition and a reach out for help. Understanding that some of this takes discipleship some of this takes counseling some of this takes a long road ahead. But they you the God who saves us also has the power to work on us. I got a free this over our people today.

You would cause their hearts to be more in love with you and that the affections of this world would fall apart and fall away and the desire for you would grow in Jesus name.
