John 14:6 ESV
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Matthew 11:28–30 ESV
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28
The call is clear, all who labor and are heavy laden go to Jesus because He can give rest. But what are we laboring and heavy laden from? Jesus is referring to the Jewish religious system, with its perfect adherence and complete obedience, the way to be “right” with God.
One of the problems with the system is that it never ends, you are constantly are failing and constantly trying to make things right which is not possible and it is exhausting.
A deeper look at the “Law” and we see God’s holy and perfect standard, but we quickly see that we are incapable of keeping it. What we should see next is our desperate situation, if God is holy and I am not, and God requires perfection for entrance into His kingdom, and I can’t even come close to being perfect, then I am doomed and hopeless.
Taking a deeper look at the “Law” we see God’s holy and perfect standard, but we also quickly see that we are incapable of keeping it. What we should see next is our desperate situation. If God is holy and I am not, and God requires perfection from me for entrance into His kingdom, and I can’t even come close to being perfect, then I am doomed and hopeless. So what’s the answer?
Jesus. He lived the perfect life we couldn’t live, complete and perfect obedience to the entire Law of God and then He also died the sinners death we deserved for failing to keep the Law. He became the blood offering, the lamb of God, the ultimate sacrifice for you and me. But why did He do this?
Jesus is the ultimate sacrifice. He lived the perfect life we couldn’t live and then died the sinners death we deserved, He became the blood offering, the lamb of God, the ultimate sacrifice for you and me.
The answer lies in the character of God. He is love and He is good and He is full of mercy and grace. Meditate on these verses.
John 3:16 ESV
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Romans 3:23 ESV
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 6:23 ESV
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 5:23
Romans 5:8 ESV
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Ephesians 2:8–9 ESV
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Romans 3:21–24 ESV
But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
Romans 3:21-24
