John 6:35 NKJV
35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

Context

Location: Jesus went over to the Sea of Galilee (6:1) He goes up on the mountain with His disciples.
Social: :It was Passover, a feast of the Jews, was near.”(6:4) Feeding the 5,000.
Jesus sees a multitude of people following and turns to Philip and says “where can we buy bread from?” (6:5)
The story break down.
is about Jesus crossing the Sea of Galilee and then providing miracles, including the feeding of the 5,000.
Jesus flees to the mountain because the crowd were going to make Him King. The next morning His disciples got on the boat and went towards Capernaum. Jesus gets in the boat and the ocean stops roaring.

Bread

What does the bread symbolise?
It couldn’t be physical bread because Jesus says in that we should not strive and labor for “food that perishes”. It is interesting that Jesus challenges the people of the time not to “labor” for food that perishes.
In the bible indicates that the bread symbolises “life”.
Jesus says that unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink of His blood, you have “NO LIFE” in you.
If you eat and drink you will have “ETERNAL LIFE” and these people will be “RAISED” up in the last days.
What does Jesus say about the bread?
Jesus says that He “Jesus” is the bread of life.
The bread Jesus is talking about is Spiritual. It is the “WORDS” spoken by Jesus, which give life. .

Jesus is the bread and is the one who gives it. “The bread that I shall give is my flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world”.
What is the purpose of the bread?
It gives “ETERNAL” life.
