MIT: God the Son was revealed, resurrected, and glorified by the God the Father so that the children of God might believe and hope in Him.
I. Christ was Revealed for our Sake.
a. Christ was known before time.
He was foreknown before the foundation of the world.
He, the Christ, the precious, spotless, perfect Lamb of God whose blood was shed for our redemption is the eternal, Son of God, the Second Person of the Trinity who has always been and will always be.
Our Savior the one who left his heavenly throne, was made flesh, fulfilled the whole law by His active obedience, and then bore the wrath of God as the propitiation of our sins was not a created being who God decided to create to save us.
He is the eternal Son of God whom was intimately known by the Father before the world was spoken into existence.
Jesus Christ was, is, and will be the God-man, truly God and truly man whom has always been in perfect union with the Father.
He was not just foreknown by the Father, we was also loved before the foundation of the world.
He is one with the Father, and has always been.
He was with the Father before the world was created.
In the creation account we see God the Father directing the Son as He is speaking creation into existence.
They were together accomplishing the work of creation together along with the Holy Spirit.
We know also that the Jesus Christ the Son of God was not just a silent partner in creation.
Paul reminds the Colossians,
Colossians 1:15-16
For us as believers in Christ it is important for us to understand who He is! His eternal nature.
We are not just trusting our life and our eternity in a good man, a good teacher, or even a prophet.
We are trusting our life and eternal destiny in the One Lord and Savior who has always been, that is why even in the midst of suffering and trials we trust in Christ.
We trust in Him because he was foreknown before the foundation of the world and because of what Paul wrote to the Ephesians,
Because Christ is foreknown, we have been foreknown and chosen before the foundation of the world.
Jesus Christ person was not all that was foreknown before the foundation of the world.
His creative work was not the only thing foreknown about Him.
God also foreknew the salvific work of Christ before the foundation of the world.
Peter preached at Pentecost that the definite plan and foreknowledge of God was Christ being crucified by sinful men.
God wasn’t scrambling to figure out what to do after Satan tempted Eve.
He already knew what was going to happen, He already had a plan to redeem fallen humanity.
God’s foreknowledge was not affected by the fall.
Here is another great truth about Christ, He was not only foreknown before the foundation of the world, Secondly we see,

Christ was made manifest in the last times.
but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you.
In other words, Christ was revealed, shown, and made known to us, by putting on flesh, being born of a Virgin, living, teaching, and even dying among us.
Galatians 4:
Galatians 4:4-5
In the eternal, sovereign plan of God,
At just the right time, Christ was revealed, He would come so that He may live and die to fulfill the law, to atone for our sins, to redeem us from our eternal damnation.
He came so that the sacrifices might cease, the blood of bulls and goats were pointing us to the blood of the lamb that was slain.
These sacrifices were temporary, they were showing God’s people they had a need for a greater sacrifice.
One that could once for all atone for their sins.
Hebrews 9:11
Why would God, perfect in wisdom, holiness, and power go through all of this.
Why would he send His Son into the world, leaving His heavenly throne, privileges, and putting aside His power to come and be put to death at the proper time?
Here is the answer, Peter provides,
c.
We were the reason Christ was revealed.
for the sake of you.
Talk about a personal salvation!
Jesus was revealed, for you and me, for His church, His bride.
How is the eternal nature and revelation of Christ for you and I? How is it that the manifestation of God in flesh is for the sake of those whom he has chosen?
Paul writes to Timothy, because it is Jesus Christ,
God is to be seen in nature, and seen vividly there, but not as He is to be seen in Christ Jesus.
Instruction as to the eternal power of the Godhead some find in the skies above, in the fields around, and in the sea beneath, but in the cross there is more of God than in all the world besides.
Our salvation is a result of His eternal purpose and grace.
Our salvation is given us in the eternal person of Jesus Christ.
Our salvation has been “manifested” through the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ.
Our salvation is through Jesus who, abolished death, brought life, and immortality to light (so we could see it).
How through the gospel?
Who are what is your hope set on?
Are you preparing your mind for action?
Are you being sober minded?
Are you pursuing holiness?
Are you conducting yourself in fear?
Are you constantly thinking on the preciousness of the blood that was poured out for your sake?
These are the ways we ought to respond to the divine revelation and manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
He has eternally existed and has been supernaturally manifested for the sake of you and me.
Will you and I now live for Him?
Is there any doubt Christ was revealed for our sake?
Now here is the second point Peter gives us,
II.
Christ was raised for our faith.
1 Peter 1:2
It is through this Christ, this promised Savior, the promised Messiah, the Foreknown eternal Son of God that we are believers in the Father.
There is no way, no not one that we come to the Father apart from the Son.
We can not believe in God without believing in Christ!
If you want to know if you or anyone else believes in God the Father, ask them what they believe about God the Son.
Is He eternal?
Is He incarnate?
Is He fully God?
Is He fully man?
Is He the second person of the Trinity?
Is He perfect?
Is He the sinless, substitutionary sacrifice?
Is He the risen Savior?
Is He the ascended Savior?
Is He the reigning King?
Is He the returning warrior King?
Is He Lord?
Have you submitted to His lordship?
Is this the Christ in whom you have believed, have you repented of your sin, then you are a believer in God.
You have recieved this belief and faith as a gift from God, you didn’t muster it up, work it up, or come to it on your own.
You have come to believe in the depravity of man, the holiness and love of God through the Son, by the Spirit of God regenerating your heart and mind so that you might believe in the Son for salvation!
through Him you are believers in God!
You are believers in Him first of all,
Because God raised Him from the dead.
If there was no resurrection what would we hope in?
What would we look forward to?
The resurrection is the the doctrine on which our hope hangs!
How important is the resurrection?
