The VDC Team

I want to talk a little bit about the Via de Cristo team for a few minutes.
At first look, when you look around you wonder, Lou what were you thinking?! This team is made up of a Hodge-podge group of men from different locations with varying degrees of skills, or not. If it’s your first time serving you may be feeling a little inadequate for the task. You may be wondering how could God possibly use me to bring about His will on this weekend. I know that I am! Even though this is the 8th time I have served on a weekend, and the 3rd men’s weekend in a row, this will be the first time serving as a Spiritual Director! But, one thing I know is that I am here to serve because God wants me to be here! He wants you here as well!
Our Bible verse for the weekend, , says, “…for my power is made perfect in weakness.” God really is not interested in the strengths you bring to this weekend. He is more interested in your weaknesses. Why? As our team books say under “Why am I here, Lord?”, “I’m here to imitate Jesus Christ and to be a window to pilgrims at this Cursillo.” “I’m here to praise God and do His holy work here on earth.” If we only focus on our strengths to get things done, we may miss the opportunity to allow the Spirit to do something really amazing! And that is what these weekends really do well! God always shows up in a big way! Can I get an Amen?!
Now, you may not be the most eloquent writer or speaker, but the message that God wants you to get across will come through loud and clear. You may not be the best cook, but the food is always outstanding! Can I get an Amen on that?! You may not be a rock star musician, present company excluded, K.K., but you will add to this weekend through your music. Yeah, I’ve been in that role on that team as well (thanks for putting up with me Tony!). God can and will use you to His glory, in whatever role you find yourself in. Relax and enjoy it! Every one of us is needed.
reads, “The eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I don’t need you!’ And the head cannot say to the feet, ‘I don’t need you!’ On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem weaker are indispensible...’” Remember that Christ is the head of the body, the church, and he would never tell you that you’re not needed! I will tell you what He does say, “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace…!” - . So, brother feet, the Lord has need of you, falling arches, corns, bunions, callouses and all! Amen, my brothers!
