What is Marriage?

-One flesh union of Man and Woman

-Life-long, exclusive, open to children

-Building block of society: every society since Roman empire has guaranteed protections for marriage in their laws because it is in their best interest. Children need stable mothers and fathers to have the best chance of being well-adjusted citizens.

-Marriage pre-existed every society—it is the first society and has always been about children.

Marriage is a Sacrament

-For the baptized, Marriage is something far more than a legal contract.
