What kind of church do we want to be?
Many types of church- Many churches begin as a rebellion to another church type...
Flavors vs DNA- what we like is less important than having the right DNA- different clothes, but the same DNA.
Orthodox or not?
Orthodox by definition- keeping to the original
- A clear picture of the original:
4 things they Devoted themselves to (eagerly desired and pursued)
1. Apostles Doctrine- The Kingdom of God and Jesus
2. Fellowship- koinonia- friendship, sharing, participation…
3. Breaking of Bread- AGAPE feast- Not just food for foods sake- religious feasts were a part of the culture and the love feast was no different…
4. Prayers- Continued in the Jewish patterns of prayer. Though we don’t observe those, we must ask, do we have a pattern for prayer?
The results- Lets look at the results and decide if we want to be orthodox…
Fear came over them- People didn’t dare join, without a level of seriousness
Signs and Wonders- the continuation of Jesus’ ministry.
Supernatural Unity- all in common
Supernatural generosity- People would sell land and give it to the poor.
ULTIMATELY- more were added daily.
Decision time: Do we want to be orthodox?
Response: Communion
