Why Revelation?
“Something that will soon take place”

Revelation or “Unveiling”
Revelation = apo kalypsis
The word “revelation” comes from the Greek word apokalupsis (the Apocalypse) which is a compound word consisting of apo (“away from”) and kalupsis (“a veiling” or “a covering”).
Thus, “apocalypse” means “an unveiling” or “an uncovering.”
The term denotes a p 54 disclosure of something that was previously concealed, hidden, or secret.1
In the New Testament, it is used exclusively with reference to divine revelation (cf.
Luke 2:32; Rom.
16:25; Eph.
3:5).
The Unveiling of What?
The end times; it is the unveiling of the end times.
Matt

“to all things that he saw” - is an O.T phrase.
It is to suggest that Revelation is to be understood just like the O.T prophecies were understood.
Just as the O.T prophecies were reliable and have all come to pass, so will Revelations prophecies.
