Revelation 3:1–6 NASB95
1 “To the angel of the church in Sardis write: He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars, says this: ‘I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. 2 ‘Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God. 3 ‘So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you. 4 ‘But you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their garments; and they will walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. 5 ‘He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. 6 ‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’
(NASB95)
This prophet message was giving to the church in Sardis.
1 “To the angel of the church in Sardis write:
He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars, says this: ‘I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.

6 ‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’

Jesus says to them. Though you have a name that you are alive, you are dead in the inside.
The truth is you CAN’T fool God!
You have this appearance. You appear to have lots of life but I am the only one that really knows you.
You can not trick me. I know that you are dead on the inside.
Revelation 3:2 NASB95
2 ‘Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God.
2 ‘Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God.
And because I love you I will rebuke you. WAKE UP CHURCH and STRENGTH what remains.
You know this last year you may have lost some things. But you must noe strengthen what you have left so that I can give you more.
Revelation 3:3 NASB95
3 ‘So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you.
3 ‘So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you.
two things stick out here.

Wake up and repent!!!

Wake up and pray, Wake up to prayer!
If you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you.
Im not sure how related this is but I kept thinking about Jesus as he prays in Getsemine
Look me with me at
Matthew 26:38–45 NASB95
38 Then He said to them, “My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and keep watch with Me.” 39 And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.” 40 And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour? 41 “Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” 42 He went away again a second time and prayed, saying, “My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it, Your will be done.” 43 Again He came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. 44 And He left them again, and went away and prayed a third time, saying the same thing once more. 45 Then He came to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.
Matthew 26:38–40 NASB95
38 Then He said to them, “My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and keep watch with Me.” 39 And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.” 40 And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour?
matt 26:38-
Then He said to them, "My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and keep watch with Me."
Jesus was at the hardest hour of His life. What did he do to strengthen himself?
39 And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will."
40 And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour?
Wake up
Matthew 26:41–42 NASB95
41 “Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” 42 He went away again a second time and prayed, saying, “My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it, Your will be done.”
Matt 26:41-
41 "Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." 42 He went away again a second time and prayed, saying, "My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it, Your will be done."
Again they were sleep. Wake up strengthen yo self
Matthew 26:43–45 NASB95
43 Again He came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. 44 And He left them again, and went away and prayed a third time, saying the same thing once more. 45 Then He came to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? matt 26:43-
43 Again He came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. 44 And He left them again, and went away and prayed a third time, saying the same thing once more.
Look at Luke’s account in
Luke 22:43–46 NASB95
43 Now an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him. 44 And being in agony He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground. 45 When He rose from prayer, He came to the disciples and found them sleeping from sorrow, 46 and said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

Its in those time of the greatest needs God gives his greatest strength.
How and where do we find this strength? The place of prayer.
You can talk like… act like.. smell like.. walk like.. a Christian all you want do if you do not have a prayer life you are dead on the inside.
I want to pick up abruptly in the middle of a conversation Jesus is having with the Pharisees in
Matthew 23:23–29 NASB95
23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightier provisions of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness; but these are the things you should have done without neglecting the others. 24 “You blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel! 25 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside they are full of robbery and self-indulgence. 26 “You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the dish, so that the outside of it may become clean also. 27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. 28 “So you, too, outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. 29 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous,

Warning Jesus holds nothing back here
23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!

29 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous,
what’s our text say in Revelations
I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.
I don’t want to be like the Pharisees a white wash tomb looking good on the outside but dead on the inside
“Let the fires go out in the boiler room of the church and the place will still look smart and clean, but it will be cold. The Prayer Room is the boiler room for its spiritual life.” Leonard Ravenhill
“We are to be shut out from men, and shut in with God.” Andrew Murray
“We are to be shut out from men, and shut in with God.”
Andrew Murray
“I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had absolutely no other place to go.” Abraham Lincoln
“Pray, and let God worry.” Martin Luther
“When a Christian shuns fellowship with other Christians, the devil smiles. When he stops studying the Bible, the devil laughs. When he stops praying, the devil shouts for joy.” Corrie Ten Boom
Boom also add the question
“Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?” Corrie Ten Boom
Prayer brings forth an atmosphere, a position, a revelation, and His presence. Prayer brings forth a connection between God and man. The one in heaven connects to the ones on earth.
Prayer brings forth a connection between God and man.
The one in heaven connects to the ones on earth.
Prayer is the telephone that gives us access to the father, the creator.
And this phone has no busy signal. If we call, he answers.
Psalm 138:3 NASB95
3 On the day I called, You answered me; You made me bold with strength in my soul.
On the day I called, You answered me;
You made me bold with strength in my soul.
When we find this as a truth that we can call on the Lord no matter where and when we are there. We find then strength and confidence for our soul.
Psalm 118:5–6 NASB95
5 From my distress I called upon the Lord; The Lord answered me and set me in a large place. 6 The Lord is for me; I will not fear; What can man do to me?
From my distress I called upon the Lord;
The Lord answered me and set me in a large place.
6 The Lord is for me; I will not fear;
What can man do to me?
No matter how far you gone no matter how long you have been away. The good news is that through prayer you can turn and find again the presence of God.
Paul’s says it like this.
Romans 10:8 NASB95
8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching,
But what does it say? "THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART"
Look at
Matthew 6:6–9 NASB95
6 “But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. 7 “And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. 8 “So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. 9 “Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
"But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. 7 "And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. 8 "So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. 9 "Pray, then, in this way:
Here in our text Jesus says go into the inner room and close the door.
Jesus is not instructing man to follow a new ritual or religious tradition.
But a deep inter relational. To as Andrew Murray says close the door to men and open it to God.
To lose self, reputation and stand before the father empty naked and unashamed
To totally open up your heart to him, in love and to find him in that secret place.
Where it’s you and him alone.
A Needy prayers, desperate praying. Emotional, asking and expressing to God the secret things that no one knows.
These are the prayers that we must shut the door.
This closing the door points to ones personal prayer life.
You its easy to have a prayer life in front and with others. But what about when no one is around.
It is in those private times where one can be honest before the lord.
1 Peter 5:7 NASB95
7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
tells us to
tells us to
Casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
God give us the ability to pour out and cast out all of our fears , pains, heaviness and cares on him. Because he care and is able to carry the heaviness’s of our life.
Ill close with this
In the garden of eden it is all about a place rather than a position.
I have set the lord before me he is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
Position. In any place
Don’t ever allow a place to change your position
We know the story with adam and eve. By the time we get to chapter 5 prayer is birth and is necessary.
Genesis 4:26 NASB95
26 To Seth, to him also a son was born; and he called his name Enosh. Then men began to call upon the name of the Lord.
(NASB95)
(NASB95)
26 To Seth, to him also a son was born; and he called his name Enosh. Then men began to call upon the name of the Lord.
Abel died and Cain is off run away.
They lost their sons. And with that the hope of the promise that the seed would bruise the head of the serpent.
They had seth and they rejoiced in him and when seth had enosh
Then men began to call upon the name of the Lord.
Lets strength what remains
