Luke 3:1-6

Grace equals more than Justice!

2nd Sunday of Advent

Repent and be Forgiven!

Focus:  Out of His love for us God gives to us more than is just.

Function:  That the hearers believe more firmly that forgiveness of sins has come unto them through baptism.

Grace, mercy, and peace to you, from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Prepare the way (Illustration).

How do we prepare for His coming?

      Baptism

How are we asked to prepare the way in the bible?

      Baptism

He comes to bring salvation and the forgiveness of sins. (vs. 6)

He came, this is certainly true!

      Historical evidence

My faith came one step closer through historical evidence

                  Then Baptism

St. Nicholas of Turkey, Dec. 6, 4th Cent. Myra

Pontius Pilate, Herod, Annas, and Ciaphas bring to mind the graphic details of the Passion Narrative.

Beginning of Christ’s ministry and the end-our begins with our baptism and then we prepare and make straight the way of the Lord!

And now may His grace, which surpasses all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in His peace.  Amen.
