I don't know if you're familiar or not with what a sommelier is took me about a week to figure out how to pronounce that. sommelier will a sommelier is a person who is trained to figure out wine. This is this is their Niche is wine. To become certified as a sommelier. You have to go through a very rigorous testing that involves all of your senses a a sommelier will a go-around with this little metal thing and old pour wine in it and they'll go like that. You have your pinky out by the way, I figure that out that's part of the text and they do it like this and I smell it and it'll take a little sip and swish it and spit it out. I don't drink it parently but the sommelier is able to detect fruits. What kind what what place wine is made in Now to really go to the upper class of a sommelier. There's a such thing called as a master sommelier. There's only a little over 250 master sommeliers in the whole world. So there's a few others a little mean a few rings down that are called certified wine specialist, which is also a lower-tier of a sommelier take for example, Amy Dixon. Amy is a certified wine specialist & sommelier. I feel so important saying that Forget the Greek and Hebrew sommelier. Anyway, Amy is a certified sommelier who traveled the globe educating people on wine and what food should be paired with the wines. She has been featured on The Today Show. She is an international triathlete and she is one of nearly seven million people in the USA who is legally blind.

Miss Dixon lost her vision about 15 years ago to nearly 100% blindness 98% to be exact due to a rare inflammatory disease that don't worry. She doesn't travel alone. She has with her her seeing eye dog Elvis. Who is also trained in wine Specialties? I'm not kidding you this dog goes into the wine markets with Amy and is able to find this dog is trained to Fine Wines that are from France. Italy and Spain crazy, right this cute Elvis travels around with Amy. Amy is known as blind sommelier. She is able to make up for her loss of sight with the enhancement of her other senses. If you go to miss Dixon's Facebook page, she writes this my visual impairment is not a handicap. It is calls me to be in tune with my other senses and even more with my surroundings and other people in some ways. It has been a gift. People who are blind tend to have an enhancement of their other senses. It has been scientifically shown that when your vision is lost especially at a young age or birth. The other senses are heightened and made sharper than people who have all their senses. No blindness is still prevalent today and underdeveloped countries. I don't know the science behind this other than what I read, but there's some kind of thing that's passed on from mother to child during birth and here in America. There's little drops that are put into their eyes it gets rid of that. But an underdeveloped Ruiz they don't have that ability or the resources. So there's a lot of blindness in foreign countries. See you can go in in other places and see what it must have been like in Jesus's day where a lot of people were blind. So today, we're going to experience the healing of the Blind Bag. I'm looking at Mark 10 46 through 52. Let's look at the scripture together. Then they came to Jericho as Jesus and his disciples together with a large crowd. We're leaving the city a blind man Bartimaeus which means son of tomato was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth. He began to shout Jesus Son of David have mercy on me many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more son of David have mercy on me. Jesus stopped and said call him so they called the blind man cheer up on your feet. He's calling you throwing his cloak aside. He jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.

What do you want me to do for you? Jesus asked him the blind man said Rabbi. I want to see. Go see Jesus your faith has healed you immediately he received his sight and follow Jesus along the road. In this text we joined Jesus and his followers on their way to the Passover. We can only imagine as Jesus is Entourage was probably in the hundreds or maybe even in the thousands of people who are traveling on their way to this Passover. in Mark, 10:46, we see the Jesus is disciples and a large crowd they come and go from Jericho as they're on their way and The past is God Is blind guy named Bartimaeus. a blind beggar So Beggars would often sit on the sides of busy roads where there was a lot of foot traffic and they would just beg and ask cuz they had no other means to buy for themselves. They were usually outcasts of societies. So they will depend on people to give as they walked by so they would cry out and ask for people to give them some food or money. I want you to imagine for a moment sitting on the side of a road. Or there's people walking back and forth and you're sitting there and you're blind. I want you to do this for a moment with me. Is to experience through our senses what this must have been like for this blind person name, Bartimaeus. You can close your eyes if you want and just listen to me. Tell the story. You can keep them open. Look at the slides. I have some things you can look at but just for a moment. Let's heighten our other senses. I think the first thing that would happen as we sit along the side of the road is that we would hear sounds that were not used to hearing. Sitting down by a dirt or stone roadside will probably pick up a lot of noise the shuffling of sandals and the stone and dirt would probably make things pretty confusing the constant scrape of sandpaper from 100 Carpenters is what it might sound. Like, of course, you would hear the the chattering of many people talking about this upcoming Passover. You might hear a conversation or voice as they pass you by women who are gushing over their boys who are growing up too fast. Men boasting about their current Harvest. We're that stubborn Ox that just won't pull their share. Many voices have a different pitched to them a picture of excitement that mirrors the conversations related to the Passover that's coming. and speaking of Passover

You can't help it pick up the fresh scent of cut a freshly cut palm branches. Jericho is well known for their Groves of flourishing palm trees and the sweet Aroma of palm gets in your nose and that seems odd to you because this is an unusual smell.

This must mean something. That a king is on the way. King could be coming you think maybe they will pass by here and leave you with a nice stack of coin.

Can you imagine what that money would buy money from a king your taste buds start to imagine a taste of lamb - with a a splash of fig? YouTube being a blind beggar have never had a full meal like this you usually are able to buy scraps. You've shamefully sucked on a lamb bone that you found discarded and maybe a few leftover eggs. You smack your lips and really? Really all you taste as the dust and dirt that's hovering right around you which is about 2 ft above ground level as you're sitting on the side of the road. You take your hand and you rub it in the dirt around you you run it between your fingers and decide it would feel better to run a few coins between these fingers. They always feel so cool. The coins that people give us. You can almost make out the face of Caesar as you imagine rubbing them between your fingers.

With a slight distraction of what you already have gotten it is has brought you back to an unusually large crowd that's coming down the road. The crowd is louder than it has been this kind of this like Electric Feel in the air you feel compelled to sit up straighter as the noise of the crowd gets louder and you're able to listen and Kian on some of the remarks that are coming from the people. This King will be victorious. Did you know that he was a carpenter son? I saw with my own eyes that he healed that leper healed. Healed did someone say healed? Then you hear a sentence that will change your life forever. They say that Jesus comes from Nazareth Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus of Nazareth. You have heard others talk about this Jesus of Nazareth in the last 3 years. Most people would mockingly say, how could anything good come from Nazareth? What others would mention this impossibility that a king would come from such an insignificant town? But you know that this is the case Jesus. This is the son of David who will rightly inherit the throne this is the savior. This is the Healer you shout out Jesus Son of David have mercy on me the crowd they try to shut you down down shut you up.

But you know, he's near and this is your shot at being healed son of David have mercy on me then you here. nothing

It's as if the crowd went away in a cloud. But you sense that they are here because you can you smell them. You can smell the sweat and the Palms that they're holding you here. They're breathing. You can feel their heart beats and you wait and you listen. And you sent everything that you can because you can't see. Several come near you and graciously tell you to cheer up get up because Jesus is Calling You So with no hesitation you spring up from sitting down and you throw off that old heavy cloak and you walked toward Jesus. It's almost as if you're being drawn to him not worried about if you might stumble. There's no hesitation in your step. There's no fear of not being able to see. I need ask you. What do you want me to do for you? You say to the king my teacher. Let me see again. You steal the breath of the son of David on your face as he says your faith has made you well.

and as your vision is restored the first thing you see Is the warm determine face of Jesus it's only for a second. He seems to be in a hurry, but he turned and looks at you and then turns away as he leaves you there. People bump past you now because they're trying to follow Jesus. He looks back at you again just for a moment and you never want to lose sight of that face ever again. You can do nothing else but follow the son of David the king that healed you will be your king forever. Being blind makes you more dependent on your other senses.

This blind man may have never noticed Jesus walking by as the son of David a Nazarene. If it weren't for his Keen awareness of all of his senses hearing smelling tasting and feeling

we often are also like blind Bartimaeus. We lose awareness of Jesus in our lives walking right by our senses so dulled that we missed the opportunity to worship the king to give him praise. Certainly any of you here that might be losing any of your senses would agree. That you tend to rely more on your other senses. Can we learn something from this blind beggar? Can we learn something from this experience of using our other senses because Jesus might be walking by you today? Will you recognize Jesus? Or will you not be paying attention? Can you heighten your senses by focusing on one that you normally don't use a sense that you normally don't use I saw some of you closing your eyes trying to experience this differently some of you looking at the slides trying to experience it differently some reading scripture. Maybe you were doing this trying to feel the coins. How might you experience Jesus differently with your other senses? Have you recently listened to the word of God being spoken? City of just reading it. Have you held on to someone you love without saying a word?

Have you taken in the sweet aroma? Of the coming spring time. Or maybe even the snow that's melting. Have you tasted a food that you've never tried before? Have you seen what people are saying without them if you even speaking? Have you seen what people are saying without them even speaking? Have you experienced Jesus with blindsight all of your senses? Miss Dixon the blind sommelier says this Are you in tune with your other senses and even more with your surroundings and other people are you in tune with Jesus?
