A New Season-A New Thing

Introduction

Typically, there are 4 seasons! Winter, spring, summer and fall! Winter - December, January, & February; Spring - March, April, & May; Summer - June, July, & August; and Winter - September, October, & November. However, in the life of the believer there are 5 seasons…yes! Winter, spring, summer & fall, but the 5th season is “DUE SEASON” because the record says, “Be not weary in well doing, for in DUE SEASON, you shall reap if you faint not!”

The central idea of the text (CIT) from the author’s point of view is to encourage the children of Israel before the captivity about the good, the bad, and the ugly. In other words, within this same book he warns them and encourages them!

The main objective of the sermon (MOS) is for each of us to leave here today praising God for this NEW SEASON AND NEW THINGS that are about to take place in the life and lives of every believer.

I. The Past (18)

How many of you want God to do a NEW THING in your life! You are tired of the same thing that has taken you NO WHERE! Tired of the same people who have not made you better, nor have you made them better! How many of you are ready to take your place as the Head, and not Tail! I refuse to be the Borrower, and not the Lender anymore! I will no longer scratch with chickens, but I’m going to SOAR WITH THE EAGLES! I am tired of all of my mail going to the VALLEY, I declare and decree that some will come to the MOUNTAIN TOP! In fact, my temporary address will be in the Valley, but I’m changing my permanent address to that of the Mountain Top! I DECLARE AND DECREE a CHANGE IS ABOUT TO TAKE PLACE! I DECLARE AND DECREE A NEW SEASON IN MY LIFE!

Thus the “former things” are such events as the destruction of Sennacherib and the return from Babylon. “Things of old” are events still more ancient, the deliverance from Egypt and at the Red Sea, and entry into Canaan
