Vision: Transformation through all inclusive Love
Search together in LOGOS
11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
We’ve been focused on being God’s Church on Purpose for the past few weeks
Instead of just plodding along in our comfort zone hoping that something will happen, we want to be a church that is doing things for a reason
We have stated a few times that our main purpose is to evangelize the lost
I read about a guy who visited the very large Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, KY. He said he didn’t like the church because it was too big. When asked what kind of church he was looking for, he stated, "I want to go to a small, friendly, God focused church."
The goal of a congregation should never be too big or too small
b. Our goal should always be "one more"
It should be Growing bigger and smaller at the same time.
That is God’s hope–God’s desire
The early Church met in smaller groups encouraging one another and in large groups feeding and teaching.
On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Paul spoke to the people and, because he intended to leave the next day, kept on talking until midnight.
Jesus healed and taught in groups of thousands
: 15 As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.” 16 Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”

Here we see where BYO was given motivation to feed people after gathering.
1. The ways and means develops the purpose
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

2.His patience with provides opportunity for all to have eternal life together
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
In addition to reaching the lost, our purpose is to help people grow in their relationship with the Father and His Son Jesus Christ
We do that in a variety of ways–worship, fellowship, service, preaching, teaching, prayer
ILL> One of the most exciting times in a couple’s life is a baby being born. The parents are all excited and everyone "oohs" and "ahs" over it. So the couple takes the baby home and then reality sets in. They are constantly changing diapers and losing sleep and trying to figure out why the baby is crying.
The joy of the new birth is followed by the responsibility of caring for and raising that child.
While babies are cute and all that, nobody thinks it great when a person remains a baby for too long
a. If a small child never learns to walk and talk, never figures out how to feed himself, never outgrows his need for diapers, it’s a sign that something is terribly wrong
We love babies, but we expect every baby to grow
: Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. 2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

Maturity takes time
Today we want to look at the last part of our stated purpose
Today we want to look at the last part of our stated purpose
C. Today we want to look at the last part of our stated purpose
"To equip God’s people for service."
To help people to find their gifts and to unleash them for ministry
Putting it all together
3. Our purpose is to evangelize the lost, to edify each other, and to equip God’s people for service."
VS 11 Ephesians 4

E. READ:
3.We are designed to serve so the body can reach more of those who do not know him and give thanks to God
This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.
Talk about the ministry fair and pray
