Intro

How many parents do we have in here? Ok, so most of you should be able to understand this story. I love my daughter Emma. She’s such a joy in my life and she is smart beyond measure. Most people won’t know that, because she’s also shy beyond measure. But, there’s one thing that she does, that sometimes drives me crazy. If she wants my attention, she will continually call out saying, “Daddy!” Over and over again until I, not Elizabeth, respond, “Yes Emma?” It doesn’t matter what I’m doing, or where we are. If she wants my attention, she will call out, “Daddy!”
I don’t think that this is something that is exclusive to just children calling out to their parents. Husbands, how often does your wife call out your name over and over trying to get your attention? Or does that just happen to me?

Thankfulness

Luke 17:11–19 NIV
Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”

Amazement

Matthew 7:26–29 NIV
But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.
