Greater than or nearly as great (probably depending on current situations) of life’s purposes Is determining, why it is we suffer?
Greater than or nearly as great (probably depending on current situations) of life’s purposes Is determining, why it is we suffer?
Why is there malevolence?
What’s the source of it and who is to blame.
Many would wrongly speculate that this is the reason religion and to some degree philosophy (far as much as you can separate religion from the social sciences) were invented to solve this great dilemma.

For that reason, life NEEDS a villain.
This is why we relate to comics and fairytale.
The evil character is the antitheses of why the central theme or character struggles and because that character (the good guy) is meant for us to relate to.
We resent the evil character.
Someone always has to ruin things.
Not realizing without the him the film or story wouldn’t be found as relatable.
Why do we suffer?
The truth is that suffering, specially pain is one of the few things everyone in the would has deal with.
The degree of that pain or suffering vary a bit, but not matter how rich you are and not matter your background or privilege, we all have face the pain of losing a love one.
Unless of course you don’t have any one you love, and that produce a whole set of other problems.
We all face some it.
The question than becomes, “how do we respond to that suffering?”
For thousands of years philosopher and theologians have tried to answer that question.
Is suffering a result of ones own actions?
Thus, if mans actions are good, good things will happen.
Are they a result of more external forces, such as injustice, oppression, or any of the “ism?”
Is it someone?
The devil maybe, or dare i say, GOD?
An interesting question the disciples ask Jesus

"In the 1930s, the American Dream had become a nightmare, and I think comic books and superheroes in particular provided an escapist form of entertainment that allowed the American public to go into a fantasy world where all the ills of the world were righted by these larger-than-life heroes," says Erin Clancy
Captain America was introduced during World War II.
As a result of Hitler reigh of power Superman quickly rose to fame and glory with the American peoples. He became a symbol of courage, great moral standings, and strength.
Throughout the remainder of World War II, dozens and dozens of superheroes that are still popular today came in to being, most notablyBatman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, and Captain America.

In the sixties at the end of racism and prejudice my favorite, X-Men came forth connecting with the discriminated ones.
But just as important as connecting to the hero was identifying the villain.

The Hero, good.
The Villain, Bad.
And good should always defeat evil, AND I’M GOOD!

The disciple in essence say, “WHO’S THE BAD GUY?”
Jesus says,
john
Jesus takes away the bad guy.
What do we do with this?
Someone says, “The world is an unfair place, extremely unfair.”
Your response is, “Well, how can you say that?
I like the world!”
The world is an unfair place, extremely unfair.
Well, how can you say that?
Look at my life and all that I’ve been through.
I didn’t choose it, I didn’t want it.
I hate life, I hate my life.
Look at those others, everything come easy to them, life is unfair.
Often times people take the misfortune of their own existence as proof the world is unfair or unjust.
Then they compare themselves to others and the subject of their comparison become their enemy.
I think of David and Saul in 1 Samuel.
“The women sang as they played, and said, "Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands"
They say, “Look at my life and all that I’ve been through.
I didn’t choose it, I didn’t want it.
I hate life, I hate my life.”
The man didn’t choose to be blind.
He was born that way, and Lady Gaga says....
We have to find some to blame.
Then he says, “Look at those others, everything come easy to them, life is unfair.”
He compares.
