Intro: You know that time your device is no longer new, fast, and working as advertised is the time you start investigating a new phone options. You are looking to get rid of the old and begin new. You are tired of the short battery life, the cracked screen, the phone powering down on its own and freezing apps.
Aim: Change our life from the old to the new life in Jesus Christ.
Get In Christ!

In Christ

In Christ there is a blessing.
Out of Christ is outside the blessing area.
In Christ is a submission to the will of God.
Outside is selfish living and lack of true power.

Through the power of Christ

We know the Power of Grace

Grace is a gift from God!
We come to know the power of Christ through his work.
romans 6:1-2
Romans 6:1–2 NLT
1 Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? 2 Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?
Work of salvation by Jesus:
Jesus ministry through the cross
Earthly ministry
Crucifixion
Resurrection
Ascension
Through Jesus Work
Sin has been defeated
Grace has been introduced
Those who call on the Lord are made righteous.
Our response to this amazing Grace?
We do not deserve God’s amazing love.
God’s love is so good toward us.

We are alive in Christ with power over death!

Romans 6:2 NLT
2 Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?
We are dead to sin!
Jesus has set us free from the slavery of sin.
We know the power of new life through Jesus life.
We are to live new life in Christ.

Our Power comes from being IN Christ

Romans 6:3-
Romans 6:3–4 NLT
3 Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? 4 For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.
IN Christ is new life that has been resurrected with Christ.
We find our identity in Christ.
We should find likeness in our life for Christ!
We should identify in Christ:
Baptism
Jesus’ death
Jesus’ resurrection
We know new life in Jesus because of God the Father.
In Jesus we have power to know a new life.

We are United In Christ

Romans 6:5–7 NLT
5 Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. 6 We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. 7 For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.

United in Christ gives us:

1. Unity in Jesus’ Death

Jesus died in our place .
Jesus death defeated sin once and for all.
Jesus in dying on the cross took our penalty. ()
Isaiah 54:3 NLT
3 For you will soon be bursting at the seams. Your descendants will occupy other nations and resettle the ruined cities.
Isaiah 53:4 NLT
4 Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins!
Isaiah 53:4–5 NLT
4 Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! 5 But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.

2. Gives us Unity in The Resurrection of Christ

We are united in the resurrection of Christ.
We know new life in Chris through the Holy spirit.
We will one day know the totality of the resurrection in Jesus second coming.
Jesus is the resurrection and the life! ()
John 11:25 NLT
25 Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.

New in Christ also means freedom

Romans 6:6-7
Romans 6:6–7 NLT
6 We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. 7 For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.
If you live for the flesh you are a slave to sin.
Old sinful life was crucified with Christ.
We should know life as submission to the Lords’ will.
Mark 8:34 NLT
34 Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.
2. No longer slaves to sin. (Romans 6:7)
a. We are not controlled by the flesh.
b. We are awaken to the Holy Spirit.
Who the Son sets free is free! ()
John 8:36 NLT
36 So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.

Celebrate your freedom in Jesus

Jesus is setting us free from sin to live forever with him.
Jesus wants us to know life free of shame and guilt that comes from sin.
Psalm 30:11–12 NLT
11 You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy, 12 that I might sing praises to you and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever!
Trade in the old for the new.
Only in Christ!
Turn your mourning into dancing!
Take your sadness and receive gladness
Sing now and not be silent- Give God praises for ever!
