The Function of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament
The contexts in which the Holy Spirit is mentioned in the Old Testament are very broad.
They include:
• the creation of the world;
• the redemption and formation of the people of God;
• the divine empowerment of Israel’s leadership (king, prophet, judge, and social worker);
• the ethics of the people of God.

The Holy Spirit is a full member of the God head.
it is my hope to make everyone in this study uncomfortable.
if you are a member of this church and you come from the charismatic side of the body at some point in this study we will see the gentle humility of the Holy Spirit.
my hope is that as you look at Wednesday Night bible study and you see that your quest for experiences, and your preoccupation with the things that you have elevated to spiritual may be in some part the flesh.
the Holy Spirit does not grade on the bell curve.
the statement “if you think I’m bad now you should h ave known me when… is an exscuse and will not be excepted here.
what ever that excuse was intended to cover, if you try to use the excuse whatever behavior your trying to justify, you are moving away from correction.
in the same vein i want to challenge those of us that come from an intellectual only people.
the Holy Spirit is a spirit of power as well as the humility that I mentioned before.
why would I want to teach on the Holy Spirit?
He is promised to us by Jesus
it is the Holy Spirit that descended onto Jesus before His public Ministry
it is the Holy Spirit that empowered Salvation at Pentecost.
it is the Holy Spirit that brings healing to those who are in-firmed.
(NKJV)
A Lame Man Healed
3 Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. 2 And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple; 3 who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms.
4 And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, “Look at us.” 5 So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.
6 Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”
7 And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
8 So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God. 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God. 10 Then they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
