The Power Of Love
The Power Of Love
This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
Confession of Faith
I am not moved by what I see or by what I feel. I am moved by what I believe. I believe the WORD of God! The victory is mine! I have it now! I can see it through the eyes of my faith! In Jesus Name
Love
Introduction:
The supreme command for each of us as believers is to love one another.
We are called and commanded to love one another just as Jesus has loves us.
The bible reminds us that Jesus is clear about what He means when it comes to love.
He loved man - woman - boys and girls so much that He paid the ultimate price. He died and sacrificed His life for mankind
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Love has power! Love is a mighty spiritual weapon!
Love Conquers Fear And Love Offers Grace
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
There is no fear in love
When you really love someone there is no need to fear him or her. When you love someone - you give your very best, then you have done all you can do. At that point our lives and what we have done are in God’s hands! God will give us peace and an assurance that comes over us and erases all fear!
If you are insulted because you bear the name of Christ, you will be blessed, for the glorious Spirit of God rests upon you.
2. Perfect love casts out fear
Here’s what we need to know - only a love that constantly grows and grows will be blessed by God!
We cannot love one person and hold feelings against another person. That’s not love! True love is impartial! A person who really loves, loves everybody!
3. Fear torments
Fear makes you think about and expects punishment, suffering or loss! Fear makes you feel like something is going to happen to him or her. Those types of feelings cause all kinds of disturbance and problems for people to different degrees: Fear causes anxiety, alarm, fright, panic and terror! Phobias, neurosis and other psychotic disorders
4. Fear means that we have not been perfected in love
We are struggling grasping the love of God
God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.
This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.
Fear can be cast out when we operate in the perfect love of God
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?
Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
Love Offers Grace
bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
Grace
Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, Peter—this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny three times that you even know me.”
But Peter followed Him at a distance to the high priest’s courtyard. And he went in and sat with the servants to see the end.
Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came to him, saying, “You also were with Jesus of Galilee.”
But he denied it before them all, saying, “I do not know what you are saying.”
And when he had gone out to the gateway, another girl saw him and said to those who were there, “This fellow also was with Jesus of Nazareth.”
But again he denied with an oath, “I do not know the Man!”
And a little later those who stood by came up and said to Peter, “Surely you also are one of them, for your speech betrays you.”
Then he began to curse and swear, saying, “I do not know the Man!” Immediately a rooster crowed.
And Peter remembered the word of Jesus who had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” So he went out and wept bitterly.
Grace
I am sure Peter was devastated! The guilt associated with denying someone you say you love and would die for
After Jesus resurrection - he was having breakfast with his disciples. Jesus operated in grace to restore, encourage and exhort Peter about his upcoming responsibilities:
So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Feed My lambs.”
He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Tend My sheep.”
He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.
I don’t know what you have been through! I don’t know how you have been hurt or how you have been betrayed! I don’t know what you have done to hurt or betray others. What I do know is that God loves you - God offers his grace to you and me! he doesn't want us operating in fear, but his perfect love!
Just like Peter he wants to restore you and me with the Grace - the favor, the forgiveness, the love that put you and I on the road to healing and wholeness!
