It's for us to know that the Jesus in his ministries recorded very well by Luke in his first book The Gospel of Luke. He looks at the birth in the Life Ministry the calling of the disciples the events that happened in the life and Ministry of Jesus while he was here on Earth. And then dr. Luke writes a second book entitled The Acts of the Apostles Acts. He looks at what happened after Jesus? Had left this Earth after his death is burial. His resurrection is appearance to his disciples. This is the last of the times that Jesus is with his disciples. They don't know it but as we turn to Acts chapter 1 verse 6 through 10, we see that story in this message that we have this morning is one that I was not planning to deliver. It is one that the lord gave me during these power outages. It is unique how God can change the direction of your life and he can change the direction of even then. Sermon that you're going to deliver. I thought about the resource. I never knew I had. Did you know you have a resource that you never? Thought about that. You didn't know you had. I've told people often the things are going to get better when my rich uncle gets out of the Poor House. Any day now things are going to turn around for the rails family. My kids looked at me when I was telling them that like Dad. We love you, but you're one brick short of a load.

But we have resources that we have no idea and I'd like us as we look at the scripture this morning. an accident chapter 1 follow along with me So when they the disciples had come together with Jesus, they asked him Lord, will you at this time restore the Kingdom of Israel? That's their question. Really? The question is Lord. Is it at this time now you're back with us and things are great. Is it at this time? You're going to establish your kingdom here on Earth. Are you going to take back control from the oppressors? beats Romans Are you going to set the captives free? Are you going to release us from the tyranny of Rome in their captivity of us?

And establish your kingdom here and even as they said that there had been some discussion with the disciples as to who would sit at. The Lord's right-hand and who would sit at his left hand and they were looking at Power and position.

And Jesus kind of wipes that all away. When he says to them verse 7 it is not for you to know the seasons the times that our father is fixed by his own authority.

But you will receive power cuz they're question really at the heart of it was you have power Lord. We have seen the Miracles and you've conquered the grave you rose from the dead who's coming.

And Jesus says but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and you will be my Witnesses. Here we go with the spreading of the Gospel message and the spreading of the kingdom and the truth that Jesus is telling them about his kingdom, not of Earth. but in the heart you will be my Witnesses in Jerusalem and in Judea and Samaria the outer parts and to the ends of the Earth.

And when he had said these things to the disciples as they were looking on him. He was lifted up before them into a cloud that they took him out of their sight. and when they were gazing into heaven as he went up behold two men stood by them clothed in white. Can you say Angels Among Us?

And they said men of Galilee. Why do you stand here looking up into heaven? This Jesus who was taken up from you into heaven will come again in the same way that you saw him go into heaven in the same way. You saw Jesus lifted up into the heavens. He's coming back.

Get ready. Are you ready?

He's coming back from heaven. in a cloud to take us all to be with him. Is that good news? If you didn't get anything else, is that good news, you could take home with you. I want you to know this morning though that you have a resource.

I'm showing the battery cuz I'm thinking of power.

I'm thinking of the power that can turn on a generator.

Turn on at home.

Wendell and I were going to Seminary in Anderson We've got to know a fellow classmate Luann Grassman. Her parents and she is assisted them had a catering business. In the building that they started this catering business in was a a big old two-story. Schoolhouse, I think it it had a 4 room Schoolhouse at one time. It was a Christian School and four years this old building and how's this school? And when they took and renovated it to have the bottom floor as a huge kitchen for their preparations for their catering business and they lived upstairs.

As they were refurbishing in restoring this old school into a house transitioning it.

They realize this is going to be very expensive to heat this old building if we need to insulated very well and they were talking to some people who were helping them with the construction. They said you know this wondering how it's going to be the school was here for many years this Christian School in this building and paid a lot of money had to close down because of the cost of heating this old building and we're trying to insulate it and bring it up to code then Wondering what is the best way to heat? This house and this business and we're going to have a lot of stoves and probably going to need a lot of gas and one of the construction men said, do you know? What caused all of the people to move to Anderson, Indiana to begin with? They shook their heads now. They said it was the natural gas Wells that were here in Anderson. and people came here because it was cheap energy just drill down into the natural gas Wells and Supply the energy for the The gas lamps to light the streets and the power the plants that would be built there for commercial purposes. They said I'm wondering if there might be a gas. Well right here underneath. your home so they investigated they had a driller come out and check about drilling a well and they found one of the largest natural gas Wells right under their home. They have free Heat. They have free energy to run their stoves. and to do the catering business the resource was there all the time right below their feet, but they never realized it. Made me think about the resource that I never knew I had. UC our power went out in the emergency generator didn't kick on as it normally would power goes out generator comes on when the power is restored the generator shuts off. That's how it has worked before but it didn't this time. So Pastor Dave went out to start it up. Check the oil oil level was up. Tom. You want to know I check that?

I started it up. It didn't start the first time but it started the second time and so it was running I thought okay, well better late than never and I went in the house and 20 minutes later. It stopped.

So we did a few minutes. I went back out started again. It's going to be a cold evening unless I can get this started about 9:30. Thursday night power went out. seems there was a fire down the road on one of the poles about 12 Mile Road on M60 and the neighbors across the way said there were 30 foot Flames coming out from that Transformer and on the wires itself burn that pull right in half.

So 9:30. Our power went out generator didn't come on. I got it on ran for 20 minutes. When out I went back out started it ran for 20 minutes and stopped. Did it a third time?

I told Dale I said. just put some extra blankets on and let the cat come in and sleep close to us and we'll make it through. Well, they came out and the generator service came out ludwick's good people. We talked about fixing our Emergency generator, they couldn't get it to run. They said it shot.

But they were the gracious people who said we don't want you without power. They went and brought a temporary generator that they hooked up. They said it'll run about 7-8 hours and then you'll have to fill it with gas again. I said, okay, this is 4:37 or midnight. I'm going to have free fill this thing up again But it got us through well when the power came on Friday night about midnight.

I expected that our power would come back on from The power poles out there, but it didn't come back on. So I turned the generator off thinking that's what would transition it, right? wrong And I couldn't get it to start back up again. I called Bobby Weaver. thank you, Bobby Weaver, who came out and started it up again and set But we got power on at the house, but I'm just going to leave the generator going at our house through the night just in case and I said, I'm just going to leave our generator going here. Well that morning. I called two weeks and said, you know when the power went off the power came back on in the city, but I turned off the generator if it didn't click over said well. Did you go out and hit the main and turn the main breaker back on I said well inside there's a main breaker. I turned it back on. No, no, no, not the main breaker in the house. You have to go outside to the box out there and turn on that main. I did know.

I had a resource of power to power the house even that evening.

And Betty, I didn't know I had a resource. I just had to throw a switch and I would have had power.

Sometimes we have resource that were unaware of that will give us power unlimited power.

Let's go back to our scripture.

And let's look at this a little closer.

So when they had come together the disciples and Jesus they asked him Lord. Is it at this time that you're going to restore? The Kingdom of Israel. Is it this time? You're going to throw off our oppressors and you're good at grant us freedom at last freedom. I want you to know in Christ we have freedom.

He has thrown off the devil and his oppression if we would just lean into him trust in the Lord with all of our hearts and lean not on your own understanding in all of our ways acknowledge Him turn on the main. Get the power back on. The resources there. You just didn't know it. And now that you do we have flipped the switch allow the Holy Spirit to have control and to throw off the oppression the depression. All of those things that are weighing you down. And have a new start. Jesus said it's not for you. And I to know the time only the Heavenly Father Knows the fix time that he's returning again. He is coming or he sending the Lord back again. to establish the kingdom both here on Earth and in heaven

but you will receive what power say that word again power.

Do you want Power do you have power to live a Victorious Life?

I want you to know the powers they are you busy. You may just not realize that you have a switch to turn it on in prayer. A call out to the Lord and say Lord. I'm a sinner in need of a savior come into my heart. clean my Dirty rotten self and make me Your Vessel and you know if you invite the Holy Spirit and he will come in. He is a gentleman. I want you to know that about the Holy Spirit is a gentleman. He will not force himself upon you he will not make you a Believer. You have to receive Christ invitation to come in invite him to come in and you will have power beyond your dreams and expectations. gods inexhaustible and ever available power is there and ready to be turned on? It's the resource. You never knew you had

Jesus said stay in Jerusalem and wait.

And the Holy Spirit will come upon you and fill you with power. And it says in the whole place where they were gathered together praying was taken and they had tongues like fire that fell upon them and a mighty rushing wind was so loud that all of the neighbors all of the people of Jerusalem came out to find out what's going on. You ever heard of Mighty rushing wind? Maybe you heard it this weekend.

Stay in Jerusalem and wait, and you will be filled with the Holy Spirit and new power. It's coming it's available. if you'll just take hold, I'm going to close today with a story from good friend Mentor teacher Dr. Chuck Swindoll said this about prayer but it is also about our walk with the Lord. He shares this story. On one occasion the Evangelist Dwight L. Moody had been the recipient of numerous benefits from the Lord in his abundance. He was suddenly seized with the realization that his heavenly father was showering on him almost

With the power that he couldn't even fathom or handle or take and he just cried out one time in the middle of a service stop God.

If you ever been so blessed that you just wanted to cry out to god stop blessing me so many blessings. I can't take anymore.

Dr. Dwight L. Moody said stop lord. God. And it was spontaneous.

I mean he could stop with Moody. But I want him to start with me. I want him to start doing that kind of blessing in my life.

my friends Isn't it time that we say? start God start with me pour out your power turn on the switch discover that resource that was just below your feet. And that gas well it was there all the time how many years did that school been in existence paying for gas to keep Gas lights to light up the school and they had a resource all the time below their feet and they never knew it. Do you realize that you have such a great power and resource available to you throw the switch on and receive unlimited power. Heavenly father. I thank you for each and everyone here this morning, but here's my word that hears your words through me. Bored, can we just pause for a minute and realize? Did we are empty Broken Vessels that need to be mended and filled? filled pool with your power your praise your peace the promises of your provision Lord. Let us pause for a minute and then throw the switch by saying Lord star Gods start in me with me through me and may I Empower others that you would fill me? So full that I would be able to bless others bless me to be a blessing to others. I pray in Jesus name pill us use us. We pray. Thank you Lord. Amen. Would you stand with me as weak sing a song?
