Luke 10:38–42 NKJV
38 Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” 41 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

Focus Text:

Luke 10:42 NKJV
42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
Introduction

Jesus Speaks to Martha about the root of her issue, worry!

we assume from the unfolding of the scenario that Martha is the older sister who would have been responsible for the hospitality of the house.
Jesus does not rebuke her for her hospitality rather he rebukes the root of her service, it was not according to Jesus, a genuine love for Jesus and the disciples, she does it out of worry.
Matthew 6:19–21 NKJV
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
when was the last time any of us checked the real motive behind why we do what we do ?
we all over boil like Martha did, we can only hope that we have someone is as honest with us as Jesus was with Martha.
have you ever miss judged a situation, opened your mouth and then felt exposed because you discovered that your thoughts where not as air tight as you thought they were?
I have, I hate it most when am wrong with pastor Deadra .
Just two verses down we see what Lord Jesus says about serving two masters.
Matthew 6:24 NKJV
24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

You cannot serve God and money

you cannot serve God and self

you cannot serve God and Godless religion

you cannot serve God and image

you will love your idol and hate your God.

Luke 10:42 NKJV
42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

This one thing is needed

Luke 10:42 NKJV
