Why are we doing this?

Psalm 24:1–2 NASB95
The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains, The world, and those who dwell in it. For He has founded it upon the seas And established it upon the rivers.

1st principle- Parenting your children is not for your glory.
Isaiah 42:8 NASB95
“I am the Lord, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images.
Since parenting is about God, we must listen to Him.
Deuteronomy 6:4–7 NASB95
“Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. “These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. “You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.
Deuteronomy 6:
2nd principle- Parenting your children begins with your own love of God.

Let’s talk about our children.

Think of 5 wonderful characteristics about your oldest child/grandchild. Write those down.
Why can’t they do that all the time? Why do they act this way?
Psalm 51:5 NASB95
Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me.
Psalm 51:
Ephesians 2:1–3 NASB95
And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.
Ephesians 2:
Proverbs 4:23 NASB95
Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life.
Proverbs 4:
