9 And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.” 10 So he said, “You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so.” 11 Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. 12 And Elisha saw it, and he cried out, “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!” So he saw him no more. And he took hold of his own clothes and tore them into two pieces.

One of the most exciting events in track & field is the 4X100 relay race. This relay race is fast paced. I have seen a record time 36.84 by the Jamaican Relay team.(Nesta Carter, Michael Frater, Yohan Blake, and Usain Bolt)
The movement of the baton should be the main objective. Keep the baton moving at maximum speed at all time throughout the race. The baton must always be the fastest member of the squad.
Every team Member should be prepared to run in all positions, practice the baton pass, practice the handover until it becomes instinctual, practice under pressure, exchange should occur at maximum speed, and just its drop does not automatically disqualify you.
The selection of the team is the last thing to consider. Name recognition should not play a part in who runs on the relay. One coach suggest he would take his 2nd 4 fastest sprinters with a great exchange over the top 4 with a bad exchange any day and win four out of 5 any time. He said without sound fundamentals disappointments awaits.
The Bible shows us the importance of succession planning. Moses passes the Baton, to Joshua, David to Solomon, Jesus to the Disciples, Paul to Timothy, Elijah to Elisha, and Jesus to church.

12 Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?” 13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
