1 Peter 2
1 Peter 2:9–10 NKJV
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
1 Peter 2:9–10 NKJV
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
we are elected Kings&Priest that are to proclaim the praises of God; who called us out of darkness into His light, and made us the people of God.
Hebrews 5:1–4 NIV
1 Every high priest is selected from among the people and is appointed to represent the people in matters related to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. 2 He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he himself is subject to weakness. 3 This is why he has to offer sacrifices for his own sins, as well as for the sins of the people. 4 And no one takes this honor on himself, but he receives it when called by God, just as Aaron was.
Exodus 29:42–46 NKJV
42 This shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the tabernacle of meeting before the Lord, where I will meet you to speak with you. 43 And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by My glory. 44 So I will consecrate the tabernacle of meeting and the altar. I will also consecrate both Aaron and his sons to minister to Me as priests. 45 I will dwell among the children of Israel and will be their God. 46 And they shall know that I am the Lord their God, who brought them up out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them. I am the Lord their God.
Exodus 29
there was to be a burnt offering in the morning on this alter and another one at midnight. A sacrifice in the morning, and on at night. It says that we are to be living sacrifices to God.
that means when i wake up I’m living for God, and when I go the bed i’m living for God. I’m taking the time to talk with him and say “ God you can us me “
when there was a sacrifice God would talk to the people. The tabernacle would be sanctified by his glory.
if the priest at the time didn’t burn an offering to God that morning or night, Gods presence would not have entered the tabernacle, if God didn’t show up there was no sanctification, no hearing from God.
you are the priest of your own life, if you want to hear from God, want him to sanctify you ( make you a good king ) you need to burn an offering to God.
Exodus 30:8–10 NKJV
8 And when Aaron lights the lamps at twilight, he shall burn incense on it, a perpetual incense before the Lord throughout your generations. 9 You shall not offer strange incense on it, or a burnt offering, or a grain offering; nor shall you pour a drink offering on it. 10 And Aaron shall make atonement upon its horns once a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonement; once a year he shall make atonement upon it throughout your generations. It is most holy to the Lord.”
Exodus
Altar of Incense
the priest was to burn incense at this altar every morning will attending to the lamps in the temple.
Altar of Incense
Incense was representative of praise and worship, it was a sacrifice of worship.
as priest we are to lift up a praise to God all day!
Hebrews 13:15 NKJV
15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
Hebrews
there was a second part to the alter, once a the priest was to be a intercessor and on behalf of the people offer up blood for the people sins
now Jesus was our High Priest, and his blood is what forgives us of our sins, but we are to be praying for our friends, and the people that do not know God.
The Priest did both of the things daily. They did get to pick witch one they felt like doing at the time, it was there job to do both things.
E
Exodus 27:20 NKJV
20 “And you shall command the children of Israel that they bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to cause the lamp to burn continually.
it was the Job of the priest to make sure that the oil was not burned out.
the oil was a representative of the Holy Spirit
its your job to make sure that the spirit of God does not burn out in your life.
So what are we to do as Priest?
Make sure a offering is being burnt in the morning and night. ( when you wake up submmit yourself to Gods leading, and at night ask him to give you rest and help for the next day to come.)
Make sure praise is coming from your mouth and pray for someone else to find God
Make sure the fire does not burn out
