Introduction:
Hope everyone is doing great tonight. I am glad to see all of you here and healthy. Let us pray for all those who are battling illnesses. Also, we need to pray for a family in Avery that lost their fourth grader to the flu this week.
Let’s pray...
Tonight we will be diving into , please turn there with me. As you turn there let’s have a quick recap.
Let me ask you a question, have you ever received an amazing gift. How did that gift make you feel?
Exactly, you felt great about it right?
Let me ask you a second question, have you ever received an absolutely brutal gift? How’d it feel then?
Probably, pretty dreadful right. Maybe sick to your stomach even. Some people might even be angry.
Much like different gifts can give us different emotions ton
Chapter 1 of Romans:
Chapter 1 of Romans:
God’s righteous wrath on the ungodly.
Chapter 2 of Romans:
The law cannot save anyone for it only serves to condemn people.
Chapter 3 of Romans:
God alone is righteous meaning there is no one righteous apart from God but is attained throughout the work of Jesus in those who have placed their trust in Christ.
Chapter 4 of Romans:
Grace is obtained only through saving faith in Jesus Christ; we cannot earn salvation through our own actions.
Chapter 5 verses 1-11 of Romans:
Saving faith causes us to rejoice in the things of God because we are now at peace with God.
Which brings us to today’s passage. The title of tonight’s message is “The Power of Two Gifts.”
Much like different gifts can give us different emotions we have been given two different gifts one which is vile and the other wonderful and reason to celebrate. We will be looking both the gift Adam gave all of us and the gift Jesus provides free to all who believe. Would you please stand in the honor of reading God’s Word.
Romans 5:12–21 ESV
12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned— 13 for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law. 14 Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come. 15 But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many. 16 And the free gift is not like the result of that one man’s sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification. 17 For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ. 18 Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. 19 For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous. 20 Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, 21 so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1. Through Adam we have received the gift of sin while through Jesus we receive the gift of grace.
