Bill Gates
Bill Gates
Did you know that Bill Gates was once a student at Harvard University? He dropped out to give all his attention to his new-found passion: computers. His mother was deeply distressed that her son had dropped out of Harvard - one of the most prestigious universities in the world. She asked a family friend, respected by Bill, to talk to her son and persuade him to go back to Harvard. The man agreed to have lunch with Bill to persuade him to go back to Harvard.
During the lunch meeting, Bill laid out persuasively the case for personal computers and the vast opportunity that was open for him. Bill was so effective that not only did the family friend fail to persuade him to go back to Harvard, but he wrote out a cheque for $25,000 to help start the new Microsoft Company. Many years after that lunch meeting the man said, “My biggest regret and mistake I made that day was not giving Bill every penny in my bank account.”
