And thank you, Tom. Open your bibles if you have them with you or the few Bible in front of you to 1st John and chapter 3 verse John and chapter 3 the message that we have been continuing to look at.

The love of Our Lord explained by the Apostle John as he writes these books at 1st, John. chapter 3

and here's what John writes to the church at the time and he's also writing to us this morning. See what a great love the father has lavished on us. I love that word lavish that it has such a rich richness to it. He's lavished he's poured out. He's blessed us. with his love that we should be called what the children of God and that is what we are. And the reason the world does not know us. That's not love us is it did not know him did not love him.

Dear friends he goes on to say calling us friends. Now we are the children of God. And what we will be has not yet been no. There's a. Yet that's about us. Did you know that it's it's not yet appeared what you shall be. You're growing and you're you're maturing and you're becoming more like Christ every day, but it has not yet appeared. What you shall be in John is just pointing out a very simple fact, we're growing. And we should not expect of each other and we should not expect of ourselves that we've got it all together.

Is not yet appeared what we shall be.

But we know this that when Christ appears when Christ comes again.

When Christ appears when he comes again, we shall be what like him like him. We are going to be like him. And we shall see him as he is. Now. We see as Paul says we see through a glass dimly but soon we will see face-to-face. We will know even as we're fully known there is coming a time when we will see him as he is in all of his glory. And all who have this hole.

Tommy saying all our hope is in Jesus. And for all of you and for me and for us to have a hope in him.

all Hope in him purifies by themselves. We talked about what it means to be. Holy that means to be set apart for God set apart for God's use. We purify ourselves we make ourselves pure and he does that work with Ennis to purify us to make us clean and holy all who have this. Hope in him purifies themselves just as he is pure. We are not but we're working on it. We're growing in our Grace and in our knowledge of him, and we're getting better. At keeping a close relationship with him. We are purifying ourselves. We're working at it and he is working in us and through us to make us holy and pure even as he is pure. Not everyone who sends and everyone will send its just by our nature.

And we're working to move away from that nature the old man because he has made all things new.

but everyone who sends what breaks the law in fact sin is lawlessness.

Another translation puts it this way in my new American Standard Version says everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness.

How many of you have ever been in a sport? And to get better at the sport you do what? You practice. And you practice to get better at your skill. Seems right I played trumpet. Later, I played French horn then the marching band in the concert band in our Orchestra, and I would practice hours upon hours. Now if I tried to pick up a trumpet Dave, my embouchure is just shot.

It's not quite there. I would have to practice again hours. You would have to practice hours to get that officer back to get to get good at what you do.

Everyone who wants to get better practice is it what what is John Saviour everyone who practices sin practice as long as the rabbit?

He goes on to say but you know that it bit he appeared so that we might. Not sin, he is peered that he would take away our bent to send him and in him, there is no sin. In Christ Jesus, there is no sin John tells us and I want to reiterate that with you this morning that as you grow closer in your relationship with the Lord in him. There is no sin and if we want to purify ourselves and get close to the Lord, we better stop or bent to sending no one who lives. In him keeps on sinning stop practicing sin start practicing righteousness. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him. Does that make sense?

If your world is all about sending if your world is all about seeking to satisfy yourself, and that's what sin is.

You have no part in him and he is certainly no part of you because he has no sin in him and he can't live in the heart of a person who's singing. You can divide it.

he goes on to say and I love this phrase do children the Apostle John in his it is elderly age has been on the Isle of Patmos. He's been The only one who survived being put to death they put him in a hot pot of boiling oil. The God's hand was on him and they couldn't kill him they tried.

and so they banished him to the Isle of Patmos to work in the mines. He wasn't just sitting there twiddling his thumbs. They put him the hard labor. But even if that he found time to pray and to get closer and closer to the Lord his God his beloved Savior and he broke up in these words to the church.

Dear children do not let anyone leave you astray. The one who does what is right is what righteous? If you do practice and you live a right life, you will become righteous. Just as he is righteous the one who does. What is sinful is of his father the devil because the devil has been sinning from the beginning that's his nature. That's who he is. The enemy and there is an enemy no matter what the world may tell you. There is a God and there is an enemy. Satan the devil whatever name you want to put on him Lucifer Beelzebub that nature about him is trying to pull you down pull you away from God.

And he's done that from the beginning. That's who he is. That's his nature. That's what he does. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work. Just think about it for God so loved the world John 3:16 John writing in his earlier writings for God so loved the world. He gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him. Jesus has eternal life and John 3:17 says God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world but through his son Jesus the world might be saved you might be saved. There's a out there's a way for us to escape hell. A condemnation. I love it in Romans 8:1 one of my favorite verses if you haven't read it before Market down to go home and read it over and over again Romans 8:1 the Apostle Paul writes. Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Since I put my feet onto the path of righteousness and walking and practicing to get better at righteousness and Purity. I'm no longer practicing Sim in the darkness of the enemy, but I'm practicing to be better at righteousness. And since I put my feet on that path.

the old man dies in the new man lives just as when I was baptized. I went into that water and buried and the old man died and when it came out with a freshness because I was bored again and him. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work. That's what he came to do. That's what he did.

No one who is born of God will continue to sin because God's seed remains in them and they cannot go on sinning because they have been born of God. There's a newness of freshness about them.

This is how we know the children of God. And who are the children of God? We are. This is how we will know who are the children of God and who are the children of the devil? There's a difference. Anyone who does not do what is right?

Is not God's child nor is anyone who does not love their brother and their sister love has to be in you love for God and love for your brother and your sister love for your neighbor love for others. Love God love others. That's what we are called to do.

For this is the message you have heard from the beginning. We should love one another turn to your neighbor and say I love you.

And I do love you I do. And in the reason I can love you and I can love you and I can love you is because God loves me and he lives in me. If he did not I could not love you nor could you even have any compassion toward me it would not exist for this is the message you have heard from the beginning. We should love one another.

Do not be like Cain who belong to the evil one? Who murdered his brother you knew that story? And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil. And his brothers were righteous and he was jealous of his brother. Don't be jealous be righteous. Do not be surprised by brothers and sisters. If the world hates you, it's because they hated me he says.

We know that we have passed from Death to life because love we love each other. We know that we have passed from Death to life because we love each other anyone who does not love remains in death anyone who hates his brother and sister is a murderer. But that's pretty strong words Brother John. Wow, if I hate my brother, I'm a murderer. Wow. And you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him. They don't equate do they? If you filled with hate love can't fill you you have to empty yourself out of the hate and to be filled with love and if you're filled with love hate can't lift. There is no room. Ever fill up a glass and then try to fill it again.

If anyone that has betrayal possessions and he sees his brother and a sister in need and does not pity them. How can the love of God be in that person? You see someone who is in need of God Wells up within you and you want to help them because that's what we do when we're filled with love.

Dear children, let us not love with words and speech only. But with actions and was truth if you are filled with God's love let his love show from you. Let his love come out of you. Let it be apparent to all that you are filled with God's love.

This is how we know that we belong to the truth. That is Christ and how we set our hearts to rest in his presence. If our hearts condemn us. We know the God is greater. Then our hearts and we know everything you know in your heart you you feel that kind of makes it in your heart you feel guilt when you do something wrong. Do you know it?

You know it. And feel guilt and that's God telling you. Get raped. Stop practicing evil practicing righteousness.

If our heart tells us. That we are condemned we know that God is greater than our hearts and he knows everything. There's nothing you can. Skate On by now. I'm going to try to fool them know you can't fool God can't fool your parents B. You certainly can't fool God. He knows your friends. If our hearts do not condemn us we have confidence.

Before God that we can stand before him and righteousness we have confidence in him. And we receive from him anything we ask because we keep his commands and do not do what pleases him. Now. I don't want you to think that what John is saying is that this is but you can ask for anything you want. nnn Our God is a Santa Claus.

It doesn't mean this is prosperity doctrine that name it and claim it. No, God knows what we want. God knows what we need. But hear the Apostle John is saying if we have a right attitude and the right mind and a right heart we can ask the Lord for healing and he will give what we need. If we are down and resources, God knows what we need and he gives us what we need not always what we want. And we receive from him anything we ask because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. And this is the command to believe in the name of his son Jesus Christ.

And to love one another as he commands us.

Beloved let our hearts be set on him and let him fill us up. With righteousness and loves that will spill out and it will give to others. The one who keeps God's commands lives in him and he in them.

another translation would say the one who keeps God's commands abides in him lives in him and God's love abides in them as well. My grandfather was a nurseryman. In fact, he worked for some of the largest. Estates in the greater, Santa Barbara and Santa Monica area and his last Employment his last job was he worked for the last of the Warner Brothers you ever watch any movies made by the Warner Brothers Studios. He worked for Jack Warner as his head nurseryman. I am he had green houses and I can remember as a little kid walking in those greenhouses and seen the different beautiful plants and plantains and flowers that he was growing to beautify. Jack Warner's estate The Lawns the gardens. And I can remember my grandfather.

Showing me a tree that he had grafted a pear tree. He had grafted another Branch from another tree into that one. And he should be the whole process of notching out and putting the other Branch into it and and wrapping it that it would grow into the Nutri and produce another kind of fruit. The hybrid but the whole grafting in process came to my mind as I got older and I learned that as we live in Christ. And he and us we are grafted in we have been made a part of Christ. By his choice by his work. He he grafted Us in who did not belong but he made us belong and adopted us to be the children of God and dust we are. John says that we are the children of God and is he lives in US abides in US?

We live in him. Jesus said any branch that does not produce good fruit is cut off and thrown away. It's not good for anything. So if we abide in Christ and live in Christ, we are going to produce good fruit. From the life that comes up from the roots. Through the trunk and out into the branches and into us and his life his Spirit produces good fruit in US.

The one who keeps God's commands lives in Christ and he Christ lives in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us we know because his Spirit has been given to us another way to say that as we bare fruit for the kingdom of God we bear fruit for him. Righteousness the fruit of the spirit is love joy. Peace. It's all around us here long-suffering meekness goodness, faithfulness gentleness and back there by Bob self control it. It's all around us in the building here. The fruit of the spirit is evidenced in us and then people can see by our fruit that we are the children. God does that make sense to you God's love living in us. His likeness is born out through us that people see Christ when they look upon us.

I'd like to leave you with three important ideas about what we've just been looking at. Three important ideas are inherent in the assertion that we are God's children then first. Is that God's initiative and his power? That we are born as the children of God. We do not bring about this relationship on our own any more than a newborn baby caused its own birth and gave itself life. That didn't happen God caused it to happen. And secondly the God calls us children of God. It's an inauguration it is. really the reality that we

being brought into fruition be brought into reality at a future time again as a newborn baby lies and its parents arms. They see with their eyes. Hope the possibility and the promise a newborn's birth is not the goal of its existence. Its goal is its growth and maturity. as a believer amen and lastly thirdly that we are God's children is evidenced in God's active and creative love for us and in us and through us God is at work in that stupid sure as to grow us. And as we looked at the fact that God is revealed through us. We can see that we are the children of God when I when I look at pictures of me and my brothers and my sister I can see inherently that we resemble our heavenly father and our Earthly father.

God has been at work within us and through us because he wanted to show us his love wanted to close with this thought.

Is to be giving away God planted love in your heart so that you would share it with others your parents your your relatives your friends. And those that may need his love so much more. I love you. Not only for what you are. But for what I am when I'm with you. I love you not for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of me. I love you for the part that you bring out. I love you for putting your hand into my heaped up heart and passing over all of the foolishness in the weakness. And that you can't help but see. But you reach Beyond. And you drew out into light that was steepest in me and all of the beautiful belongings. No one else had looked on quite far enough to find you brought out of me. I love you because you are helping me and making me of the lumber of my life. We stand before you of people who need your love we stand before you the children of God and that is what John says we are and we are the children of God as we live in you Lord and you live in us and you bring forth the fruit of love from us at through Because you are loved. And father your nature is shown through us to others. Help us to become more like you.

Forgive us where we fail. draw Us near to your heart But the heart beat that people hear from us is your heart beating in us through us in Christ name. We thank you for Freedom.
