Meaning of the 23rd Psalm Verse 3

Psalm
Psalm 23:1–6 KJV 1900
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

I. He Restoreth My Soul:

This shows the Healing Power of the Lord.
When you get down and low,
Thing start to hold you down,
You can pray to the Lord to strengthen you and to restore you.
The Lord can heal your soul if you will allow Him too.
Isaiah 41:10 KJV 1900
10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: Be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; Yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Isaiah
Jeremiah 17:14 KJV 1900
14 Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.
:
When we sin,
We become weak,
We become weary,
We become ashamed,
We stray further, and further away from the Lord.
1 John 1
1 John 1:9 KJV 1900
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Psalm 103:
Psalm 103:12 KJV 1900
12 As far as the east is from the west, So far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
If we will just follow the Lord (Our Shepherd)
Ask for forgiveness when we sin,
Repent from that sin,
The Lord will restore our souls

II. He Leadeth Me In The Paths Of Righteousness:

This shows the Lord’s Guidance;
We reach these places only by,
Following the Lord Obediently.
Rebelling against our Shepherd,
Leads us to rebel against our own Best Interest.
We need to remember this the next time,
We are tempted to go our own way,
Do our own thing,
Rather than the Shepherd’s Way.
Proverbs 3:5–6 KJV 1900
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5
Psalm 25:4–5 KJV 1900
4 Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. 5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: For thou art the God of my salvation; On thee do I wait all the day.
Psalm 25:
If we will just allow the Lord to guide us, He will.

III. For His Name Sake:

This shows the Lord’s Purpose.
As a Christian, we want to make decisions according to God’s will,
Sooner or later in life everyone must make some kind of decisions,
What college should I go too?
Whom should I marry?
Should I move here or there?
What church do I want to be a member ?
Do I really need life insurance?
The list goes on and on.
We were created with a specific purpose.
We must trust the Lord to lead us to our purpose.
Proverbs 16:9 KJV 1900
9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: But the Lord directeth his steps.
Proverbs 16:
Romans 8:28 KJV 1900
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Roman 8:28
