9 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. 14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. 17 These things I command you, that you love one another.

John
How can we know how we are to love one another if we do not know first how Jesus Loves us!
His love is unmerited
a
“in this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent his Son to the propitiation for our sins”
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
Eph
God Loves you even when you reject him, when you disobey him, even when you sin against him God still loves you this is unmerited love we call it the Amazing Grace
When His unmerited love is accepted ans recieved that through that love He transforms and changes you
into a new creation
2 He also brought me up out of a horrible pit,
Out of the miry clay,
And set my feet upon a rock,
And established my steps.
2. His Love is unlimited
He, who loved you forgave you, doing so without limits
5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth.
To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,
34 Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”
And they divided His garments and cast lots.
Luke 23:
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Jona
2 So he prayed to the Lord, and said, “Ah, Lord, was not this what I said when I was still in my country? Therefore I fled previously to Tarshish; for I know that You are a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, One who relents from doing harm.
Every week people who worship will be some who are hurting some who have fallen one again into their old ways their old sins some come doubting God’s love and others come craving it “God so loved the World” is not an impersonal truth but a comforting one because it impresses on us the unlimited Love of God for us. “ He so Loved us”any of us even just one of you, “that he gave His only begotten Son” This Gift shows Gods unlimited Love He did not with hold his dearest and His Best but instead gave Him for you and for me.
2 He also brought me up out of a horrible pit,
Out of the miry clay,
And set my feet upon a rock,
And established my steps.
Psalm
3. His Love is unselfish
1 cor 13:
5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.
2 cori 8-
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
Jesus was the perfect example of selflessness
28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
