Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
John 16:5–11 NKJV
“But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’ But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
John 16:5
Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 6:14 NKJV
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
Ephesians 6:16 NKJV
above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
Ephesians 6:13 NKJV
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Hebrews
His concern and purpose for writing the letter
Ephesians 6:17 NKJV
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
Ephesians 6:12 NKJV
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Matthew 16:18 NKJV
And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.
Paul pleads for unity in what they say and what they think
Ephesians 6:11–12 NKJV
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
1 Corinthians 1:10 NKJV
Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
1 Corinthians 1:10
Matthew 16:19 NKJV
And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Matthew 16:17 NKJV
Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.
1 Corinthians 1:17 NKJV
For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.
Wisdom of words = the wisdom of this world
Paul reminds them that the world’s wisdom considers the message of the cross foolish. They wouldn’t see it as the wisdom of God
1 Corinthians 1:17–18 NKJV
For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect. For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
1 Corinthians 1:18 NKJV
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
Paul reminds them the message of the cross is what they believed and they understood was the wisdom of God
Isaiah 55:8–11 NKJV
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:
How did the Corinthians come to this understanding of the cross and the gospel?

THE NEED FOR THE HOLY SPIRIT TO BE THERE IN TEACHING AND PREACHING

“Maturity is, therefore, a process, not a plateau,” —David Prior
The Holy Spirit helps the messenger approach his audience
He rejects and refuses to rely upon the words and wisdom of the world
He understands the message he is called to proclaim is a mystery to unredeemed minds.
1 Corinthians 1:5–6 NKJV
that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge, even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you,
1 Corinthians 1:6
He knew the message he spoke was the testimony of God. Therefore it’s reliability depended upon God as the originator and its content. The words the messenger spoke were the very words of God.
It’s the testimony of God as contrasted to the wisdom of man
In referring to Paul’s approach as contrasted with the men of wisdom David Jackman wrote, “In this sense he (Paul) was totally unlike the traveling teachers of his day. They relied precisely upon the skills of rhetoric, and philosophical argument in order to produce an impressive performance, develop popularity, and, no doubt, line their pockets.”
The Holy Spirit keeps the messenger on point
He makes a commitment not to change the message
The messenger’s attitude
He makes Jesus Christ and the cross the theme
The Holy Spirit helps the messenger by helping him proclaim the message
The Holy Spirit overrules the weaknesses of the messenger
Holy Spirit can confront and expose the folly of the beliefs and opinions found in human wisdom
The Holy Spirit alone can produce genuine faith and life-changing power
The message’s fruit
The message of the cross originated with God and was empowered by the Holy Spirit

THE TEACHING WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE LIFE OF THE BELIEVER

MIND OF CHRIST IS HAD THROUGH PRESENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit teaches those who are willing to learn
The spiritually mature are those who have received the wisdom of God a
“Maturity is, therefore, a process, not a plateau,” —David Prior
Mature as compared to those who are carnal (fleshly)
1 Corinthians 3:1–4 NKJV
And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal?
1 Corinthians 3:1-
Mature as those whose faith is solid
James 1:5–8 NKJV
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
The spiritually mature can distinguish between the wisdom of God and the wisdom of this age
James 1:6–8 NKJV
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
The world’s wisdom centers on self and the present and is temporary
The world’s wisdom is propagated by it’s own rulers
Demon or human either or both
The wisdom of God is eternal
Wisdom that is a mystery to man and hidden from their eyes
Wisdom that was ordained before time began
The wisdom of God was missed by the movers and shakers
Pontius Pilate
Herod
Annas and Caiaphas
God’s wisdom personified in Jesus Christ. They crucified the wisdom of God
Luke 11:31 NKJV
The queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and indeed a greater than Solomon is here.
The spiritually mature see and hear the wisdom of God and therefore love God
Isaiah 64:4 NKJV
For since the beginning of the world Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, Nor has the eye seen any God besides You, Who acts for the one who waits for Him.
Isaiah 65:17 NKJV
“For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.

THE ILLUMINATING WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE LIFE OF THE BELIEVER

The Holy Spirit reveals the meaning of the truth He teaches
We can take no credit for understanding the word of God
Our faith must stand in the illuminating power of the Holy Spirit
1 Corinthians 2:5 NKJV
that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
The Holy Spirit alone is qualified to reveal the meaning of scriptures
David Jackman “Only the Spirit can reveal the hidden secrets of God because only He knows the unique intimacy of the Holy Trinity in which He lives, with the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit does not have to grasp an idea or a revelation and attempt to pass it on accurately, in a way that human teachers do. He is the very agent of revelation, so that what He discloses is the very truth of God. Furthermore, it is the Spirit’s work to dive deep, as to the bottom of the sea, and to bring up treasures of revelation that would never be disclosed to human beings. He brings them to the surface in order to reveal their glory to all who are humble and willing to learn—to those who are truly mature and wise.”
The Holy Spirit is qualified since He is God the Spirit
The Holy Spirit is qualified since He dwells in God knowing the mind of God
The illustration no one knows whats inside a man expect the spirit of that man. No one knows what he is thinking
No one know what’s in the mind of God except the Holy Spirit of God
The Holy Spirit is received and dwells in every genuine believer
The Holy Spirit teaches us from the word of God
The words of scripture
Words that conflict with the wisdom of man
Spiritual words comparing with spiritual words
The words of scripture are meaningless to the unconverted
The natural man the man not born again, the man without the Holy Spirit
The natural man is incapable of understanding spiritual matters on his own
The words of scripture enable the spiritually mature to make right judgements and behave rightly
The words of scripture partnering with the presence of the Holy Spirit gives the believers the mind of Christ
Right and wrong
Purpose of life
Ect., ect.
2 Timothy 3:16–17 NKJV
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 2:16 NKJV
But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
Thats why we need to be born again by the word and the Holy Spirit
Romans 8:9 NKJV
But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.
