3 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, eproud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.
The last days began with the birth of Jesus and will end with Jesus return at King.
We hear of predictions of perilous times from the scripture, from the pulpits, and we see it with our own eyes and hear it with our own ears.
An Apostasy will characterize the final days of the church age.
What is an apostasy?
The abandonment or renunciation of a religious or political belief.
Is this evident today?
Yes.
Abortion: What a terrible crime to legalize the murder of the most defenceless of all humanity.
Currently their are abortion laws that have been passed in several states, that will protect any doctor or medical person who preforms an abortion Late Term Abortion from any kind of prosecution.
There are other bills waiting to be passed that would allow a minor to have an abortion without a parent or legal guardians knowledge.
Late Term or Partial Birth Abortion are conducted in this manner, an injection is given to the baby/fetus to soften its bones, the child is then delivered in the breech position, and the baby’s skull is crushed just before delivery.
Matthew 19:14
Attack on Marriage: Marriage is under attack from many different forms.
Gay Marriage is now legal, it has been a hot button issue with the Church of Jesus Christ, because it contradicts the Word of God.
This was God’s gift to man, God did not give man another man.
Divorce, marriage is like those that support abortion, its not that important.
we’ve made it to easy to dissolve marriages in the courts today.
Living together, marriage isn’t that important when you can do all the married things without the commitment of marriage, it’s not just a piece of paper.
vs. 7: Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Seeking truth apart from Gods Word.
Paul told Timothy to stay away from such people.
Where are people seeking other truths?
There are no other truths other than God’s Truth.
Everything else is a contradiction.
Worldly wisdom seems to get a lot of attention today.
Instead of church on Sunday, worldly wisdom says, you don’t need church, spend the day with your friends or family.
That’s what god would want you to do.
That’s more important.
Some just don’t believe in God, and these people are dangerous.
Why?
They teach in our schools & colleges, these people are given the spot light on tv to spread their lies.
You can be whatever you want to be?
Is that true?
The church is under attack: Christians are under attack because of God’s Truth.
vs. 8-9
8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.
Jannes and Jambres were believed to be magicians in pharaohs court.
They attempted to duplicate the miracles that Moses preformed.
There is the difference, they try to duplicate, they copy, because they can’t produce the real thing.
Their minds are corrupt, and all these things the false teachers and preachers have taught over the years, they will have to give an account for them.
I say a tv preacher the other night and he was asking for that seed money, and not one time did he ever mention the need for people to trust Jesus as Lord and Savior, he never talked about repentance, he never told his audience they needed to be saved and he never opened the Word of God to give the good news, he only opened and read from a book he had written about receiving financial blessings.
He’s a liar.
Why do people believe him?
