Vision: God’s Spirit would flow down Main Street where by each individual, young & old, would come to encounter, trust & love Jesus with all their heart, mind, soul & strength.
Vision: God’s Spirit would flow down Main Street where by each individual, young & old, would come to encounter, trust & love Jesus with all their heart, mind, soul & strength.
How does this happen?
Our Mission: As we Encounter God we are driven to reach the lost, touch the pour, train leaders (this is discipleship) and plant churches
All this is predicated on Encounters w/God
I often think of:
1 When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place.
2 And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.
or:
Acts 2:1
10 And when the priests came out of the Holy Place, a cloud filled the house of the Lord,
11 so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord.
1 kings 8:
We can never force God to move, but we can provide environments that are conducive to HIS moving
gathering together in one accord
focused prayer before services
praise and worship
lowering lights during worship to limit distractions around us
dedication to God’s word & its preaching
to that end: We are doubling our efforts to (renovate) redesign the rooms we have into comfortable, engaging spaces that help people in their pursuit of God.
We are going to start w/Pre-School Praiser room!
why pastor, that room isn’t occupied - true. But I believe God wants it to be bursting w/pre-schoolers!
for that to happen, the room must be a place leaders want to be in
& engaging for the specified age group all w/the focus of encountering God
from there, we will move into the treasure seekers room to make it engaging for the age group that will be in there
My heart is to see GMCC continue to grow in2 a church of all generations!
I believe these are necessary steps to see this happen!
more next steps toward the vision:
I believe that if we want to see more folks encounter God, we are going to have to provide environments during times that are helpful for our community to seek HIM
Illust. early devotional time w/Rebekah
waking up @4am so Rebekah could go to work.
we tried to get up together and read the bible & pray b4 she headed out.
the time wasn’t conducive because we were both falling asleep while trying to read & pray.
I wonder if 9:30am on Sunday is troublesome for the Bennington Community?
I think it might be troubling for GMCC too since a lrg # o our people come in2 service around 10am already.
After careful prayer and discussion w/our leaders, we have agreed to move service times as follows:
8:30am-9:30 prayer
9:30-9:59 Fellowship
10am service
Thoughts?
To make the service time change work we need your help!
The point is to create environments conducive for encounters w/God & there’s something powerful that happens when God’s people gather together in like-minded worship!
that means we are going to have to start 2gether on time
if ur showing up at 10, please don’t adjust to start showing @10:30. ur presence on time is valuable!
ur presence shows guests and members alike that your commited to and value seeking God
ur presence helps to build momentum in the service
ur presence helps to foster an atmosphere of unity
we need u!
By starting on time 2gether we are also communicating that we value their time to our guests and members alike
Please help us by committing to shift our culture from “show up whenever” to “show up to encounter”
