Hiding Out
1 sam 14:1-2
What do you do when the head of the house is not following God?
Hiding from accountability, from growth, hiding from the opportunity to be sharpened, thinking that your a sharp army blade and ain't nothing more than a butter knife.
We see Saul here hanging out on the out skirts of the land, that he is supposed to be taking over.
Not only that he is under a pomegranate tree hiding, I mean hanging out.
Saul countenance displays him out of position, not ready, in a position of hiding.
In verse 3, there was even a priest that was dressed in a ephod, but was only dressing apart not fulfilling his role.
Because of the indecisiveness of Saul, there was a burning in Jonathan.
Know your level of authority
When Jonathan laid out the plan, he might have not been 100% sure but he understood who he was and who the enemy was.
Uncircumcised was the name by which he called them.
Jonathan knew that no matter what this might be like on the other side, he kew that the people he was getting ready to take out was not apart of the promise.
Jonathan’s motivation now becomes plain.
He regards the Philistines as incompatible with Israel because they are uncircumcised, whereas Israel was committed by circumcision to the living God
