1 2 3 The two clima-c events of the Great Tribula-on are the Campaign of Armageddon which leads to the second Coming of Jesus Christs. There is an amazing amount of scriptures about this -me period. Chronology of these events is difficult, but those who have studied eschatology over the put the events in eight stages: Let’s walk through the scriptures and the events. 4 Where we are….. 5 6 The sixth bowl judgement dries up the Euphrates to make it easier for the Antichrist’s armies to move from Babylon to the Valley of Jezreel (more on that in a minutes) The Euphrates gets its water from snowfields and ice cap high on the slopes of Mount Ararat (located in modern Turkey), from this source, it flows some 1800 miles before emptying into the Persian Gulf. In ancient times the Garden of Eden was located in the vicinity of the Euphrates. Along with the Tigris, the Euphrates forms the lifeblood of the Fertile Crescent. East: Matthew 2:1 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem….. 7 8 9 • We have the full un-holy trinity. • They are performing signs to gather the whole world for war against God. 10 Note: This gathering is a demo1c spiritual lead event. 11 God’s perspective Joel 3:9-11 Proclaim this among the nations: Prepare a war; rouse the mighty men! Let all the soldiers draw near, let them come up! Beat your plowshares into swords And your pruning hooks into spears; Let the weak say, “I am a mighty man.” Hasten and come, all you surrounding nations, And gather yourselves there. Bring down, O Lord, Your mighty ones. We’ll compare that later to Micah 4:3 And He will judge between many peoples And render decisions for mighty, distant nations. Then they will hammer their swords into plowshares 12 And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation will not lift up sword against nation, And never again will they train for war. 12 No fighting here – this is a gathering place. 13 Psalms 2:1-6 The Reign of the Lord’s Anointed. Why are the na>ons in an uproar And the peoples devising a vain thing? The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers take counsel together Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, “Let us tear their feHers apart And cast away their cords from us!” He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them. Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying, “But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain.” 14 The Second Stage: The Destruction of Babylon • Babylon becomes the world capital of the Antichrist • World Political & Economic Capital Zechariah 5:5-11 Then the angel who was speaking with me went out and said to me, “Lift up now your eyes and see what this is going forth.” I said, “What is it?” And he said, “This is the ephah going forth.” Again he said, “This is their appearance in all the land (and behold, a lead cover was lifted up); and this is a woman sitting inside the ephah.” Then he said, “This is Wickedness!” And he threw her down into the middle of the ephah and cast the lead weight on its opening. Then I lifted up my eyes and looked, and there two women were coming out with the wind in their wings; and they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heavens. I said to the angel who was speaking with me, “Where are they taking the ephah?” Then he said to me, “To build a temple for her in the land of Shinar; and when it is prepared, she will be set there on her own pedestal.” • Ephah was a measure of weight – symbol of the economy 15 • Land of Shinar is Babylon So – the An5christ and his army leaves to assemble in Valley of Jezreel (Megiddo). Babylon is then destroyed (unprotected). Isaiah 13:1-5 Prophecies about Babylon The oracle concerning Babylon which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw. LiL up a standard on the bare hill, Raise your voice to them, Wave the hand that they may enter the doors of the nobles. I have commanded My consecrated ones, I have even called My mighty warriors, My proudly exul5ng ones, To execute My anger. A sound of tumult on the mountains, Like that of many people! A sound of the uproar of kingdoms, Of na5ons gathered together! The Lord of hosts is mustering the army for baTle. They are coming from a far country, From the farthest horizons, The Lord and His instruments of indigna5on, To destroy the whole land. You have the gathering together of Pro-An5christ forces, and as Isaiah is prophesizing, a gathering of An5-An5christs forces. (See details in Isaiah 13:6-14:23) This has never happened before – this prophecy of the destruc5on of Babylon has never been fulfilled as outlined by scripture. Furthermore, Babylon’s destruc5on is connected with the redemp5on of Israel: Isaiah 14:1-2 When the Lord will have compassion on Jacob and again choose Israel, and seTle them in their own land, then strangers will join them and aTach themselves to the house of Jacob. The peoples will take them along and bring them to their place, and the house of Israel will possess them as an inheritance in the land of the Lord as male servants and female servants; and they will take their captors cap5ve and will rule over their oppressors. The finial destruc5on of Babylon will be similar to Sodom & Gomorrah. 15 Isaiah 13:19-22 And Babylon, the beauty of kingdoms, the glory of the Chaldeans’ pride, Will be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. It will never be inhabited or lived in from generation to generation; Nor will the Arab pitch his tent there, Nor will shepherds make their flocks lie down there. But desert creatures will lie down there, And their houses will be full of owls; Ostriches also will live there, and shaggy goats will frolic there. Hyenas will howl in their fortified towers And jackals in their luxurious palaces. Her fateful time also will soon come And her days will not be prolonged. 15 Babylon, which will become the An2christ’s headquarters – will be totally destroyed, and will not have a surviving remnant. Isaiah 14:22-23 “I will rise up against them,” declares the Lord of hosts, “and will cut off from Babylon name and survivors, offspring and posterity,” declares the Lord. “I will also make it a possession for the hedgehog and swamps of water, and I will sweep it with the broom of destruc2on,” declares the Lord of hosts. Jeremiah chapter 50 & 51 give a more vivid picture of the destruc2on of Babylon. 16 Jeremiah 50:1 The word which the Lord spoke concerning Babylon, the land of the Chaldeans, through Jeremiah the prophet: As Isaiah did, Jeremiah (50:9-10) tells of a gather of many people against the city of Babylon Jeremiah 50:9-10 “For behold, I am going to arouse and bring up against Babylon A horde of great naIons from the land of the north, And they will draw up their baJle lines against her; From there she will be taken capIve. Their arrows will be like an expert warrior Who does not return empty-handed. Chaldea will become plunder; All who plunder her will have enough,” declares the Lord. The extend of the destrucIon and warfare is described in Jeremiah 50:11:16: 17 Jeremiah 50:11-16 11 “Because you are glad, because you are jubilant, O you who pillage My heritage, Because you skip about like a threshing heifer And neigh like stallions, 12 Your mother will be greatly ashamed, She who gave you birth will be humiliated. Behold, she will be the least of the naJons, A wilderness, a parched land and a desert. 13 “Because of the indignaJon of the Lord she will not be inhabited, But she will be completely desolate; Everyone who passes by Babylon will be horrified And will hiss because of all her wounds. 14 “Draw up your baRle lines against Babylon on every side, All you who bend the bow; Shoot at her, do not be sparing with your arrows, For she has sinned against the Lord. 15 “Raise your baRle cry against her on every side! She has given herself up, her pillars have fallen, Her walls have been torn down. For this is the vengeance of the Lord: Take vengeance on her; As she has done to others, so do to her. 16 “Cut off the sower from Babylon And the one who wields the sickle at the Jme of harvest; From before the sword of the oppressor They will each turn back to his own people And they will each flee to his own land. If you think that is bad, keep reading Jeremiah 50:21-27 (NASB Strong's) 21 “Against the land of Merathaim, go up against it, And against the inhabitants of Pekod. Slay and uRerly destroy them,” declares the Lord, “And do according to all that I have commanded you. 22 “The noise of baRle is in the land, And great destrucJon. 23 “How the hammer of the whole earth Has been cut off and broken! How Babylon has become An object of horror among the naJons! 17 24 “I set a snare for you and you were also caught, O Babylon, While you yourself were not aware; You have been found and also seized Because you have engaged in conflict with the Lord.” 25 The Lord has opened His armory And has brought forth the weapons of His indignation, For it is a work of the Lord God of hosts In the land of the Chaldeans. 26 Come to her from the farthest border; Open up her barns, Pile her up like heaps And utterly destroy her, Let nothing be left to her. 27 Put all her young bulls to the sword; Let them go down to the slaughter! Woe be upon them, for their day has come, The time of their punishment. 17 The destruc+on is so bad, and so final, Babylon will never be inhabited by man again. Jeremiah 50:39-40 39 “Therefore the desert creatures will live there along with the jackals; The ostriches also will live in it, And it will never again be inhabited Or dwelt in from genera+on to genera+on. 40 “As when God overthrew Sodom And Gomorrah with its neighbors,” declares the Lord, “No man will live there, Nor will any son of man reside in it. There is so much more detail about the fall of Bablyon. You can read more on the outline I passed out from the book “The Footsteps of the Messiah” by Arnold Fruchtenbaum 18 To summarize the second stage concerning the destruc2on of Babylon: • An2christ will move his forces into the Valley of Jezreel • His enemies will take the opportunity to destroy the city of Babylon quickly and suddenly. • Prior to the destruc2on of Babylon, the Jews in Babylon will be warned to flee. • They will do so and make their way to Jerusalem and report on the destruc2on of Babylon to those in Jerusalem • The sudden destruc2on of the world poli2cal & economic cap2on will cause great distress on Earth. • There is joy in heaven over the final destruc2on of Babylon - the Second Coming is one step closer! The next stage – #3 – the Fall of Jerusalem: Satan’s hatred for the Jews is so strong, that even when he hears about the destruc2on of Babylon, his capital city, he does not go back – he pushes forward to destroy the Jews and the city of Jerusalem 19 Zechariah tells us what happens in the 3rd stage: Zechariah 12:1-3 Jerusalem to Be A<acked 1 The burden of the word of the Lord concerning Israel. Thus declares the Lord who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundaGon of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him, 2 “Behold, I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that causes reeling to all the peoples around; and when the siege is against Jerusalem, it will also be against Judah. 3 It will come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who liJ it will be severely injured. And all the naGons of the earth will be gathered against it. Zechariah 14:1-2 God Will Ba<le Jerusalem’s Foes 1 Behold, a day is coming for the Lord when the spoil taken from you will be divided among you. 2 For I will gather all the naGons against Jerusalem to ba<le, and the city will be captured, the houses plundered, the women ravished and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city. 20 • From the Valley of Jezreel, the armies of the Antichrist will move south with all the armies of the nations against Jerusalem. • Jerusalem falls (at a great cost) • Half of the Jews are taken into salvery Zechariah 12:4-9 In that day,” declares the Lord, “I will strike every horse with bewilderment and his rider with madness. But I will watch over the house of Judah, while I strike every horse of the peoples with blindness. Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, ‘A strong support for us are the inhabitants of Jerusalem through the Lord of hosts, their God.’ “In that day I will make the clans of Judah like a firepot among pieces of wood and a flaming torch among sheaves, so they will consume on the right hand and on the left all the surrounding peoples, while the inhabitants of Jerusalem again dwell on their own sites in Jerusalem. The Lord also will save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem will not be magnified above Judah. In that day the Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the one who is feeble among them in that day will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the Lord before them. And in that day I will set 21 about to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. This energizing of the Jewish people in defending Jerusalem is also described by Micah Micah 4:11 - 5:1 “And now many nations have been assembled against you Who say, ‘Let her be polluted, And let our eyes gloat over Zion.’ “But they do not know the thoughts of the Lord, And they do not understand His purpose; For He has gathered them like sheaves to the threshing floor. “Arise and thresh, daughter of Zion, For your horn I will make iron And your hoofs I will make bronze, That you may pulverize many peoples, That you may devote to the Lord their unjust gain And their wealth to the Lord of all the earth. Birth of the King in Bethlehem “Now muster yourselves in troops, daughter of troops; They have laid siege against us; With a rod they will smite the judge of Israel on the cheek. 21 This leads use to Stage 4 of the Campaign of Armageddon – which is the Ba;le of Bozrah. We know that at the middle of the tribulaAon period (start of the Great TribulaAon), at the Ame of the AbominaAon of DesecraAon, that many of the Jews fled to the wilderness (RevelaAon 12) 22 The Jews have fled to Bozrah – in the land of Edom, or present day Jordon. Most believe that this is Petra Satan is trying to wipe out the Jews – so aBer his blood fest in Jerusalem, he is going to move his troops to try and destroy the remnant of the naCon of Israel and the Jewish People. Jeremiah 49:13-14 For I have sworn by Myself,” declares the Lord, “that Bozrah will become an object of horror, a reproach, a ruin and a curse; and all its ciCes will become perpetual ruins.” I have heard a message from the Lord, And an envoy is sent among the naCons, saying, “Gather yourselves together and come against her, And rise up for baTle!” Micah 2:12 “I will surely assemble all of you, Jacob, I will surely gather the remnant of Israel. I will put them together like sheep in the fold; 23 Like a flock in the midst of its pasture They will be noisy with men. With the completion of this 4th stage – the tribulation has only 3 days left!! 23 24 The Fi'h State is the Na-onal Regenera-on of Israel. Imagine – Jerusalem has fallen, the unholy trinity – Satan, An-christ and the False Prophet are puBng the hammer to the Jews – with the sole goal of complete genocide. Two things have to happen now: 1. There must be a confession of Israel’s Na-onal Sin 2. Pleading for the Messiah to Return Confession of Sin: Levi-cus 26:40-42 40 ‘If they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their forefathers, in their unfaithfulness which they commiRed against Me, and also in their ac-ng with hos-lity against Me— 41 I also was ac-ng with hos-lity against them, to bring them into the land of their enemies—or if their uncircumcised heart becomes humbled so 25 that they then make amends for their iniquity, 42 then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and I will remember also My covenant with Isaac, and My covenant with Abraham as well, and I will remember the land. Jeremiah 3:11-18 God Invites Repentance 11 And the Lord said to me, “Faithless Israel has proved herself more righteous than treacherous Judah. 12 Go and proclaim these words toward the north and say, ‘Return, faithless Israel,’ declares the Lord; ‘I will not look upon you in anger. For I am gracious,’ declares the Lord; ‘I will not be angry forever. 13 ‘Only acknowledge your iniquity, That you have transgressed against the Lord your God And have scaPered your favors to the strangers under every green tree, And you have not obeyed My voice,’ declares the Lord. 14 ‘Return, O faithless sons,’ declares the Lord; ‘For I am a master to you, And I will take you one from a city and two from a family, And I will bring you to Zion.’ 15 “Then I will give you shepherds aSer My own heart, who will feed you on knowledge and understanding. 16 It shall be in those days when you are mulUplied and increased in the land,” declares the Lord, “they will no longer say, ‘The ark of the covenant of the Lord.’ And it will not come to mind, nor will they remember it, nor will they miss it, nor will it be made again. 17 At that Ume they will call Jerusalem ‘The Throne of the Lord,’ and all the naUons will be gathered to it, to Jerusalem, for the name of the Lord; nor will they walk anymore aSer the stubbornness of their evil heart. 18 In those days the house of Judah will walk with the house of Israel, and they will come together from the land of the north to the land that I gave your fathers as an inheritance. Hosea 5:15 (NASB Strong's) 15 I will go away and return to My place UnUl they acknowledge their guilt and seek My face; In their afflicUon they will earnestly seek Me. Pleading for the Messiah to Return Zechariah 12:10 “I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplicaUon, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep 25 bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn. Matthew 23:37-39 Lament over Jerusalem “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling. Behold, your house is being left to you desolate! For I say to you, from now on you will not see Me until you say, ‘Blessed is HE who comes in the name of the Lord!’” 25 The final 3 days!!! Hosea 6:1-3 The Response to God’s Rebuke 1 “Come, let us return to the Lord. For He has torn us, but He will heal us; He has wounded us, but He will bandage us. 2 “He will revive us after two days; He will raise us up on the third day, That we may live before Him. 3 “So let us know, let us press on to know the Lord. His going forth is as certain as the dawn; And He will come to us like the rain, Like the spring rain watering the earth.” Hosea 5:15 I will go away and return to My place Until they acknowledge their guilt and seek My face; 26 The preaching of the 144,000 and the 2 witnesses will come to full fruition! The Jews and the nation of Israel will finally realize why the tribulation has fallen on them. The nation of Israel will cry out: Isaiah 53:1-9 The Suffering Servant 1 Who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? 2 For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, And like a root out of parched ground; He has no stately form or majesty That we should look upon Him, Nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him. 3 He was despised and forsaken of men, A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4 Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. 6 All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him. 7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth. 8 By oppression and judgment He was taken away; And as for His generation, who considered That He was cut off out of the land of the living For the transgression of my people, to whom the stroke was due? 9 His grave was assigned with wicked men, Yet He was with a rich man in His death, 26 Because He had done no violence, Nor was there any deceit in His mouth. In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me. “In this confession, they admit that the nation had looked upon Jesus as nothing more than another man, a criminal who had died for his own sins. However, on this occasion they recognize that He was no ordinary man, but the perfect Lamb of God, the Messiah Himself. Furthermore, it was not for His own sins that the Messiah died, but for their, so that then need not be stricken for their sins.”j This national confession of sins will fulfilled the prophecy from Paul in Romans 11 Romans 11:25-27 25 For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery—so that you will not be wise in your own estimation—that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in; 26 and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, “The Deliverer will come from Zion, HE will remove ungodliness from Jacob.” 27 “This is MY covenant with them, When I take away their sins.” Now, the pleading for the Messiah to come: Zechariah 12:10 - 13:1 “I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn. 11 In that day there will be great mourning in Jerusalem, like the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the plain of Megiddo. 12 The land will mourn, every family by itself; the family of the house of David by itself and their wives by themselves; the family of the house of Nathan by itself and their wives by themselves; 13 the family of the house of Levi by itself and their wives by themselves; the family of the Shimeites by itself and their wives by themselves; 14 all the families that remain, every family by itself and their wives by themselves. 1 “In that day a fountain will be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for impurity. The pleading for Israel for the Jesus’s return will not be just is Bazrah - but will be in Jerusalem also: 26 Joel 2:28-32 (NASB Strong's) The Promise of the Spirit 28 “ It will come about after this That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions. 29 “Even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. The Day of the Lord 30 “I will display wonders in the sky and on the earth, Blood, fire and columns of smoke. 31 “The sun will be turned into darkness And the moon into blood Before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes. 32 “And it will come about that whoever calls on the name of the Lord Will be delivered; For on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem There will be those who escape, As the Lord has said, Even among the survivors whom the Lord calls. Zechariah 13:2-6 2 “It will come about in that day,” declares the Lord of hosts, “that I will cut off the names of the idols from the land, and they will no longer be remembered; and I will also remove the prophets and the unclean spirit from the land. 3 And if anyone still prophesies, then his father and mother who gave birth to him will say to him, ‘You shall not live, for you have spoken falsely in the name of the Lord’; and his father and mother who gave birth to him will pierce him through when he prophesies. 4 Also it will come about in that day that the prophets will each be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies, and they will not put on a hairy robe in order to deceive; 5 but he will say, ‘I am not a prophet; I am a tiller of the ground, for a man sold me as a slave in my youth.’ 6 And one will say to him, ‘What are these wounds between your arms?’ Then he will say, ‘Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.’ The remnants comes to a saving knowledge of Jesus the Messiah by way of the fires of the tribulation is summarized in Zechariah 13:7-9 7 “Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, And against the man, My Associate,” Declares the Lord of hosts. 26 “Strike the Shepherd that the sheep may be scattered; And I will turn My hand against the little ones. 8 “It will come about in all the land,” Declares the Lord, “That two parts in it will be cut off and perish; But the third will be left in it. 9 “And I will bring the third part through the fire, Refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, And I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are My people,’ And they will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’” The 1/3 third remnant will be purified, God will answer them, and save them. They will once again be His people, and He will be there God: Isaiah 64 (NASB Strong's) Prayer for Mercy and Help 1 Oh, that You would rend the heavens and come down, That the mountains might quake at Your presence— 2 As fire kindles the brushwood, as fire causes water to boil— To make Your name known to Your adversaries, That the nations may tremble at Your presence! 3 When You did awesome things which we did not expect, You came down, the mountains quaked at Your presence. 4 For from days of old they have not heard or perceived by ear, Nor has the eye seen a God besides You, Who acts in behalf of the one who waits for Him. 5 You meet him who rejoices in doing righteousness, Who remembers You in Your ways. Behold, You were angry, for we sinned, We continued in them a long time; And shall we be saved? 6 For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. 7 There is no one who calls on Your name, Who arouses himself to take hold of You; For You have hidden Your face from us And have delivered us into the power of our iniquities. 8 But now, O Lord, You are our Father, 26 We are the clay, and You our potter; And all of us are the work of Your hand. 9 Do not be angry beyond measure, O Lord, Nor remember iniquity forever; Behold, look now, all of us are Your people. 10 Your holy cities have become a wilderness, Zion has become a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation. 11 Our holy and beautiful house, Where our fathers praised You, Has been burned by fire; And all our precious things have become a ruin. 12 Will You restrain Yourself at these things, O Lord? Will You keep silent and afflict us beyond measure? 26 During the 5th stage, Israel as a na1on will be regenerated and saved a7er 2 days of na1onal confession of sin. ON THE THIRD DAY!!!! The Second Coming of Jesus. The ini1al place of His return will not be the Mount of Olives, but the Bozrah. 4 key passages: Isaiah 34:1-7 (NASB Strong's) God’s Wrath against Na1ons 1 Draw near, O na1ons, to hear; and listen, O peoples! Let the earth and all it contains hear, and the world and all that springs from it. 2 For the Lord’s indigna1on is against all the na1ons, And His wrath against all their armies; He has u^erly destroyed them, He has given them over to slaughter. 3 So their slain will be thrown out, 27 And their corpses will give off their stench, And the mountains will be drenched with their blood. 4 And all the host of heaven will wear away, And the sky will be rolled up like a scroll; All their hosts will also wither away As a leaf withers from the vine, Or as one withers from the fig tree. 5 For My sword is saCated in heaven, Behold it shall descend for judgment upon Edom And upon the people whom I have devoted to destrucCon. 6 The sword of the Lord is filled with blood, It is sated with fat, with the blood of lambs and goats, With the fat of the kidneys of rams. For the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah And a great slaughter in the land of Edom. 7 Wild oxen will also fall with them And young bulls with strong ones; Thus their land will be soaked with blood, And their dust become greasy with fat. Isaiah 63:1-6 (NASB Strong's) God’s Vengeance on the NaCons 1 Who is this who comes from Edom, With garments of glowing colors from Bozrah, This One who is majesCc in His apparel, Marching in the greatness of His strength? “It is I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save.” 2 Why is Your apparel red, And Your garments like the one who treads in the wine press? 3 “I have trodden the wine trough alone, And from the peoples there was no man with Me. I also trod them in My anger And trampled them in My wrath; And their lifeblood is sprinkled on My garments, And I stained all My raiment. 4 “For the day of vengeance was in My heart, And My year of redempCon has come. 5 “I looked, and there was no one to help, And I was astonished and there was no one to uphold; So My own arm brought salvaCon to Me, And My wrath upheld Me. 6 “I trod down the peoples in My anger And made them drunk in My wrath, 27 And I poured out their lifeblood on the earth.” Habakkuk 3:3 3 God comes from Teman, And the Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah. His splendor covers the heavens, And the earth is full of His praise. Taman & Mount Paran are both in the vicinity of Bozrah and are located in the same mountain range of Mount Seir. We know the place His second coming – this 3 passages are linked together in Micah Micah 2:12-13 12 “I will surely assemble all of you, Jacob, I will surely gather the remnant of Israel. I will put them together like sheep in the fold; Like a flock in the midst of its pasture They will be noisy with men. 13 “The breaker goes up before them; They break out, pass through the gate and go out by it. So their king goes on before them, And the Lord at their head.” The remnant of Israel is gathered in Bozrah, besieged by the Anitchrist. The siege is broken by Jesus the KING!! There is a 5th passage that may refer to the same event: Judges 5:4-5 4 “Lord, when You went out from Seir, When You marched from the field of Edom, The earth quaked, the heavens also dripped, Even the clouds dripped water. 5 “The mountains quaked at the presence of the Lord, This Sinai, at the presence of the Lord, the God of Israel. So, we have the place, we have the \me, and we know the mannor: Ma]hew 24:30 27 And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. Acts 1:9-11 The Ascension 9 And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them. 11 They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.” Not same place – but same way, or mannor. There is more that you can read from the handout, But, to summarize. At His second coming, Christ will come with the wrath of God, riding upon a cherub, which will have horse like features (Revelation 19). There will e convulsions throughout nature at His second coming and the entire world is illuminated by the brightness of His glorious return. Jesus will return at the pleading of Israel, enter into battle with the Antichrist and his armies. With His return to the remnant of Israel in Bozrah, He will save the “tents of Judah” first before saving the Jews in Jerusalem Zechariah 12:7 The Lord also will save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem will not be magnified above Judah. Now –the 7th stage – the Battle from Bozrah to the Valley fo Jehoshaphat 27 The ba'le between Christ and An2christ will begin at Bozrah, it will con2nue all the way back to the eastern wall of Jerusalem, which overlooks the Kidron Valley (also known as the Valley of Jehoshaphat). Among the very first casual2es will be the An2christ himself. Habakkuk 3:13b …You struck the head of the house of the evil To lay him open from thigh to neck. The simplicity of Christ’s victory is told by Paul: 2 Thessalonians 2:8 Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; Revela2on 19:20-21 Doom of the Beast and False Prophet 20 And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the 28 signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns with brimstone. 21 And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh. AnAchrist’s arrival in Hell is described in detail in Isaiah: Isaiah 14:3-11 3 And it will be in the day when the Lord gives you rest from your pain and turmoil and harsh service in which you have been enslaved, 4 that you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon, and say, “How the oppressor has ceased, And how fury has ceased! 5 “The Lord has broken the staff of the wicked, The scepter of rulers 6 Which used to strike the peoples in fury with unceasing strokes, Which subdued the naAons in anger with unrestrained persecuAon. 7 “The whole earth is at rest and is quiet; They break forth into shouts of joy. 8 “Even the cypress trees rejoice over you, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, ‘Since you were laid low, no tree cuXer comes up against us.’ 9 “Sheol from beneath is excited over you to meet you when you come; It arouses for you the spirits of the dead, all the leaders of the earth; It raises all the kings of the naAons from their thrones. 10 “They will all respond and say to you, ‘Even you have been made weak as we, You have become like us. 11 ‘Your pomp and the music of your harps Have been brought down to Sheol; Maggots are spread out as your bed beneath you And worms are your covering.’ It is not going to be preXy for the AnAchrist and his False Prophet: Isaiah 14:16-21 16 “Those who see you will gaze at you, They will ponder over you, saying, ‘Is this the man who made the earth tremble, Who shook kingdoms, 17 Who made the world like a wilderness And overthrew its ciAes, 28 Who did not allow his prisoners to go home?’ 18 “All the kings of the na:ons lie in glory, Each in his own tomb. 19 “But you have been cast out of your tomb Like a rejected branch, Clothed with the slain who are pierced with a sword, Who go down to the stones of the pit Like a trampled corpse. 20 “You will not be united with them in burial, Because you have ruined your country, You have slain your people. May the offspring of evildoers not be men:oned forever. 21 “Prepare for his sons a place of slaughter Because of the iniquity of their fathers. They must not arise and take possession of the earth And fill the face of the world with ci:es.” And the fate of the An:christs army is not very good….. Zechariah 14:12-15 12 Now this will be the plague with which the Lord will strike all the peoples who have gone to war against Jerusalem; their flesh will rot while they stand on their feet, and their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongue will rot in their mouth. 13 It will come about in that day that a great panic from the Lord will fall on them; and they will seize one another’s hand, and the hand of one will be li_ed against the hand of another. 14 Judah also will fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the surrounding na:ons will be gathered, gold and silver and garments in great abundance. 15 So also like this plague will be the plague on the horse, the mule, the camel, the donkey and all the caale that will be in those camps. This is the manner that the fight will con:nue all the way back to Jerusalem via the Valley of Jehoshaphat: Joel 3:12-13 (NASB Strong's) 12 Let the na:ons be aroused And come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat, For there I will sit to judge All the surrounding na:ons. 13 Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, tread, for the wine press is full; The vats overflow, for their wickedness is great. Revela:on 14:14-20 28 The Reapers 14 Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and sitting on the cloud was one like a son of man, having a golden crown on His head and a sharp sickle in His hand. 15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying out with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, “ Put in your sickle and reap, for the hour to reap has come, because the harvest of the earth is ripe.” 16 Then He who sat on the cloud swung His sickle over the earth, and the earth was reaped. 17 And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, and he also had a sharp sickle. 18 Then another angel, the one who has power over fire, came out from the altar; and he called with a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, “ Put in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters from the vine of the earth, because her grapes are ripe.” 19 So the angel swung his sickle to the earth and gathered the clusters from the vine of the earth, and threw them into the great wine press of the wrath of God. 20 And the wine press was trodden outside the city, and blood came out from the wine press, up to the horses’ bridles, for a distance of two hundred miles. Jeremiah 49:20-22 20 Therefore hear the plan of the Lord which He has planned against Edom, and His purposes which He has purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: surely they will drag them off, even the little ones of the flock; surely He will make their pasture desolate because of them. 21 The earth has quaked at the noise of their downfall. There is an outcry! The noise of it has been heard at the Red Sea. 22 Behold, He will mount up and swoop like an eagle and spread out His wings against Bozrah; and the hearts of the mighty men of Edom in that day will be like the heart of a woman in labor. This is a 200 mile bloodbath – that ends with the final stage of this campaign: The Victory Ascent up upon the Mount of Olives 28 Zechariah 14:3-4 3 Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those na:ons, as when He fights on a day of ba?le. 4 In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east… Revela:on 16:17-21 Seventh Bowl of Wrath 17 Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl upon the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple from the throne, saying, “It is done.” 18 And there were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder; and there was a great earthquake, such as there had not been since man came to be upon the earth, so great an earthquake was it, and so mighty. 19 The great city was split into three parts, and the ci:es of the na:ons fell. Babylon the great was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of His fierce wrath. 20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. 21 And huge hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, *came down from heaven upon men; and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, because its plague *was extremely severe. Zechariah 14:4-6 29 …and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south. 5 You will flee by the valley of My mountains, for the valley of the mountains will reach to Azel; yes, you will flee just as you fled before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the Lord, my God, will come, and all the holy ones with Him! 6 In that day there will be no light; the luminaries will dwindle. Matthew 24:29 29 “But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Joel 3:14-17 (NASB Strong's) 14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. 15 The sun and moon grow dark And the stars lose their brightness. 16 The Lord roars from Zion And utters His voice from Jerusalem, And the heavens and the earth tremble. But the Lord is a refuge for His people And a stronghold to the sons of Israel. 17 Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, Dwelling in Zion, My holy mountain. So Jerusalem will be holy, And strangers will pass through it no more. The Great Tribulation has come to an end!!! 29 30
