THE SUPPLICATION.... In , let’s see what Paul is telling Timothy to do concerning prayers.

Paul says, “1 I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.”

2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.

3 This is good and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.

4 who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.

OK, verse 1 is telling us that there are really three phases of prayer: supplication, prayers, intercessions. “1 I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.”

1 I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.

Verse 2 is telling us to Prayer for leaders, and that we may live in peace. Do not oppose the leaders. Pray for them. “2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.”

2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.

Verses 3-4, Paul is telling Timothy to Pray that the leaders will come to the truth of knowing God. “3 This is good and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.”

3This is good and pleases God our Savior,

4 who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.

In verses 5-6, Paul is confirming that Christ pleads our case as sinners to our Father.....

Paul is saying, “Hey Timothy, no worries, Jesus Christ, ‘our lawyer’ pleads before God on our behalf. Christ, the mediator. “5 For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus.”

5 For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus.

Jesus Christ Loves us. “6 He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.” Christ gave Himself for all men. also tells us: 16“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

16“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

Paul tells Timothy that we all must surrender ourselves to Christ.

Paul the Person. Paul both an apostle and preacher of God’s Word. Next to Christ, Paul was the greatest preacher that ever lived. Yet, he was very humble. Verse 7 tells us: “7 And I have been chosen as a preacher and apostle to teach the Gentiles this message about faith and truth. I’m not exaggerating—just telling the truth.”

7And I have been chosen as a preacher and apostle to teach the Gentiles this message about faith and truth. I’m not exaggerating—just telling the truth.

Can we do what Paul is telling Timothy in verse 8? “8 In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.”

8In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.

THE SANCTIFICATION, PAUL IS GIVING DIRECT INSTRUCTIONS ON WOMEN HERE:

Dressing in a modest way. Not going to extremes in any way. Dress reveals character. Verse 9 tells us: “9 And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes.”

9And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes.

Remember I have often spoken that no matter what you are doing, someone is watching. Paul is addressing this here: Women are judged by their dress. Paul says in verse 10: “10 For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do.” WOW, DO WE NEED TO DISCUSS VERSES 9&10?

10 For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do.

NOW LET’S TACKLE THIS SUBMISSION OF WOMEN SUBJECT SHALL WE? REMEMBER, “BIBLE INTERPRETATION.”

WOMEN: SUBMISSION AND SURRENDER , Paul tells Timothy that: “11 Women should learn quietly and submissively. 12 I do not let women teach men or have authority over them. Let them listen quietly.” (I have to say this, is it any wonder Paul was single his entire life???????)

Respect and obedience to the husband.

(NLT)

Surrender—v. 12. Husband the head of the home. This is God’s plan for the home.

11 Women should learn quietly and submissively.
12I do not let women teach men or have authority over them. Let them listen quietly.

In verses 13-14, Paul is explaining to Timothy exactly where sin began which then led to “man’s sorrow.”

Sorrow—v. 15. Sorrow and pain because of man’s first sin. All men suffer because of this.

tells us: “13 For God made Adam first, and afterward he made Eve. 14 And it was not Adam who was deceived by Satan. The woman was deceived, and sin was the result.

13For God made Adam first, and afterward he made Eve.

CONCLUSION:

14 And it was not Adam who was deceived by Satan. The woman was deceived, and sin was the result.

AMEN
