Living Out the Transforming Power of Christ's Love
Philippians 1:9-11
Philippians 1:9–11 NLT
9 I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. 10 For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. 11 May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.
INTRODUCTION:
A- In the first message, we found that we need to develop our love for Jesus in four ways. ()
Mark 12:30 NLT
30 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’
B- Last week we examined how the four-dimensional love of God transforms our heart and soul.
1- Understanding the width, length, depth and height of God’s love helps to bring our love for Him alive and enables us to love him enough to surrender our soul to Him in salvation.
2- Meditating on that love and using that understanding of His love as our filter for viewing life transforms our response to everything.
3- At the heart of developing our love for Jesus is the bedrock truth of His love for us.
a. The apostle wrote:
()
1 John 4:9–10 NLT
9 God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. 10 This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
C- This morning, we are going to look at the practical extension of understanding and experiencing Christ’s love.
1- This involves reciprocating that love by living out our love for him in everyday life.

1 Corinthians 10:31 NLT
31 So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
()
Romans 12:3–8 NLT
3 Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us. 4 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, 5 so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. 6 In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.
Romans 12:7–8 NLT
7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously.
