What Now?
We have come to the end of the 30 Hour Famine.
If you remember when I spoke at Wednesday chapel a few weeks ago I said that I have a love/hate relationship with 30 Hour Famine.
You probably understand that a little better now that you’ve experienced your first 30 Hour.
These last 30 hours were full of learning, suffering, fun, and pain.
We learned so much about hunger, injustice, and poverty.
We’ve got to experience what millions of people worldwide experience on a daily basis.
Except, they don’t get to eat a big meal after 30 hours.
That’s why we do this.
For them.
But it’s not over.
We still have a week to gather donations to meet our personal goals and our group goal.
So far, we have just over $1,000 dollars raised from online donations.
We have probably have around $500 in cash donations.
We can reach out group goal of $7,200 if we get gazelle intense.
Also, there are other ways you can continue to help those in need.
World Vision has a child sponsorship program that anyone can participate in.
Just go to
30hourfamine.org/sponsorship
to sponsor a child for only $39 a month.
The good thing is that you don’t need to fast to sponsor a child.
You can pray for the people we’ve learned about this weekend.
A pray that God won’t let us forget what we’ve experienced.
I have a few verses to read before we close and take communion.
Hang on, we’re almost there.
Matt 25:40
James 2:15-17
Let’s make this world a better place by helping those in need, the less fortunate.
Doing what we can.
Let’s walk along the seashore, bend over, pick up a starfish and throw it back into the ocean.
So we can turn and smile to one another and say, “It made a difference to that one!”
Let’s pray.
