Our theme for the year.
2 Peter 3:14 NKJV
14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless;
Peter writes to the believer and says, look forward to these things.
In other words, live a christian life that is exciting. Get up every day and be happy about being a believer and serving Christ.
How? Because you have so much to look forward to. I believe that it’s time to stop living substandard as the people of God.
I’m not talking about financially or in an earthly manor, but according to the great things that we have to look forward to spiritually
And so we have been going back through 1 Peter to see what those things are.
Peter says, look forward to these things. Our Question has been over the last two months, what are those things?
So we look back at what Peter has already written.

Live Expectantly in Your Glorious Inheritance

Our living hope, based on that inheritance - It is sure, eternal and enduring
Our Genuine Faith in the One who left us the inheritance - a real faith in THE REAL GOD!
Our Awesome Salvation - The process of change in our lives that brings about renewal and restoration in our lives.

Live Expectantly in His Amazing Grace

Grace that sobers us up to the realities and seriousness of life, yet gives us real joy and power to face it every day.
Grace that makes us Holy - Allowing the Holy Spirit of Adoption to live through us and effect our lives
Grace that through that same Holy Spirit of Adoption makes us children of Heaven.Giving us the wonderful opportunity to know the Father Heart of God.

Live Expectantly in His Powerful Word

The Word that reveals God to us.
The Word of truth that sets us free
The word of truth that purifies our soul.
And then Last week we said that we should

Live Expectantly in Our Spiritual Place and Position

WE belong to the church which is a spiritual building, built by God using spiritual stones, all built upon the truth and the person of Jesus Christ who is the Chief Cornerston.
It is a place for the homeless and the displaced
It is for those who do not know how to find God in their lives - and it becomes a place where He is found and experienced.
It is a place to belong.
We not only have a place, but a mighty position.
We are His own people. A royal priesthood and a holy nation
We offer up our spiritual sacrifices through him:
our bodies for his service
Our praise and thanksgiving for his glory
And our acts of love towards others because of his mission.
So church, get a hold of these things in your life. Get excited about them. And experience them in your life every day. Expect It.
And as you expect these things in your life, do you know what else you can expect?
A change in life
A change in relationships and everything around you.
A big part of the reasoning for these messages is that as we see our situations and ourselves the way that God sees us
When we begin to live according to the way that God created us to live.
1 Peter 2:11–3:7 NKJV
11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, 12 having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation. 13 Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, 14 or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men—16 as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. 17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king. 18 Servants, be submissive to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the harsh. 19 For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully. 20 For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God. 21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: 22 “Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth”; 23 who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; 24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. 25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. 1 Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, 2 when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear. 3 Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel—4 rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. 5 For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands, 6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror. 7 Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.
Things around us begin to look differently too.
1 Peter 2:11–12 NKJV
11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, 12 having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.
1 Peter 2:11-
We are empowered to travel through this world without being affected by the world that we travel through.
as we move in the faith and assurity of our glorious inheritance, we realize that the things of this world don’t mean as much to us as we once thought they did.
As we move in his amazing Grace, we see our selves as children of heaven over children of this earth.
As we expect his powerful word to move in our lives, we not only see ourselves as the children of heaven, but so do the people of the world.
We are called to be examples of what Jesus would be to the world if He was still in it.
And He is in it, because he has placed us in it as our ambassadors
So remember this whether you feel like it or not.
Jesus is in your workplace, in that lunchroom or break room because you are there
Jesus is in your bowling alley or your dart tournament, because He is in you while you are there
Jesus is on Route 206 and Rt. 30, the Parkway and Expressway and yes, even the Turnpike. Because if you are there, He is there
Let’s think about that and seek ways to bring him glory
Last Night, at the wedding that I was at, I was reminded of that fact several times - Jesus is there.
He makes our conduct honorable among them.
I believe that’s what is going to make the difference in our society - the World seeing a bunch of believers that really conduct themselves honorable among them
People that live differently - because let’s face it, we talk a good talk
People that are empowered in every facet of life - They pray openly and regularly (for situations). Their families represent Jesus, their cars represent Jesus, their speech and activity represent Jesus.
That doesn’t mean that they will like it, but that they can’t speak negative of it.
as we take our spiritual place and position, we bring glory to God in every day that we live.
My Testimony
People will say - Ken you wouldn’t like it
They choose their words differently
They apologize if they say something off color around me, or just control themselves
They don’t invite me to certain activities
The eyes that are on me at a bar.
That’s not because I tell people I don’t do those things
It’s not because they think that I’m better than them
It’s because I live in a way where people just know, That’s Ken, He’s not going to do or say those things.
Let’s Go On
1 Peter 2:13–17 NKJV
13 Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, 14 or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men—16 as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. 17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
1 Peter 2:13-
When we are expectant of these things in our lives, even our country looks different.
How?
For one thing we understand what liberty really is and what it’s for.
As an american, I think the one thing that drives me crazy is how our liberty is used in this country.
We have men and women putting their lives on the line everyday, I’m sure from each of our families here today and people are out there screaming, I have a right to this and I have a right to do that.
I’m sorry, that’s not what this liberty is about. That’s not what these men and women are fighting for.
What this fight is all about is our freedom to be what God has created each and every human being to be.
To have purpose
To have dignity
To have the ability to live free in a way that frees others to walk in their freedom that was created for them.
Our law system is so messed up. And I have to tell you that we have a good system.
We just have the wrong people in it. It’s a system of bribes. It’s a system of position
It’s not supposed to be like that. But as long as we put people in place that see it as a place to grease their palm, that’s all that we are going to get
It says here that people use liberty as a cloak for device. Let that not be said about the believer in Jesus Christ.
And guess what, I don’t have to like it, but I still have to live by it. It’s the law
It says here that people use liberty as a cloak for device. Let that not be said about the believer in Jesus Christ.
I want to tell you today that there are more good police men than bad. But up until now, we hardly new it. All we ever heard about was the bad. And we need to.
You do know that the media today, just wants to keep you in fear right?
You do know that the media lies to you about everything right?
So my brother and sister as a Christian who expects these things in your life, what do you do with the news report?
I know so many that say, well I just don’t watch the news. Great, but your are still getting it.
Do you search and find the facts for yourself? Do you really know the truth?
How does all of this fit into the believer? Very easy - Peter says that we submit to those who are over us.
Other scripture will tell us that it is God who promotes and puts into place
And that the King and other leadership is in his hands.
Can I tell you, and try to not be political today.
But our President is President Donald Trump. I’m not asking for boos or yays today. I’m stating a fact.
Whether you liked it or not, our last president was President Barack Obama
And so on and so on.
I am not Democrat of Republican. I’m an independent. I don’t vote for a person, I don’t vote for a party, but I vote for the Kingdom of God on earth, because that is what is important to me.
I vote against abortion, because it is murder. I vote for life
I vote for the issue of marriage being a solemn institution before one man and one woman. Because that’s what God says.
If you are in the alternative lifestyle, we are in America, you have a right to live the way you want. Call it a civil union, call it whatever you want, but I’m sorry, you cannot call it marriage. God has already coined the term. And as far as I can see, he hasn’t changed it.
I vote for the sanctity of the family. anything that promotes family values, I vote for
I vote for anything that coincides with this Word of God.
So if you were to ask me, what party are you in pastor. You will hear me say proudly, none, I belong to the family of God
I can’t believe the way that a lot of Christians talk about our president. I’m not saying that you have to agree with him.
I’m not saying that you even have to like him.
I’m saying for the next two years and you might be surprised after that, He is our president.
I’m saying when it comes to the media don’t listen, they are full of hatred and lies, and too many christians are taking stuff off of media and copy and pasting and posting. Stop it
I don’t believe that President Trump is a wonderful man, but he is my president
I don’t believe that he should tweet the the way he does and on some of the topics he does, but he is the president of the United States in 2019
I don’t know that he always has the greatest agenda’s out there, or that he really knows how to treat people, but his title is the President of the United States
Here is what I do know as a man who votes as a Christian.
That though I don’t believe that he is a believer in Jesus Christ, President Donald Trump has done more for the Kingdom of Heaven in this country than anyone in a long time.
He has place Judge Brett Kavanough on the Supreme Court. Don’t believe the media, this man is a good man and I think through the spiritual battle that ensued that we see he was God’s choice.
And our president will probably get the chance to put at least one more Supreme Court Justice in place.
Church, as believers that is huge for the Kingdom of God.
He has stood up in the midst of world Ridicule and named Jerusalem as the capital of Israel
That is huge for the Kingdom of God and for our country.
Doing that has turned God’s eyes back toward the country of America again.
The Bible tells us that those who side with Israel will be blessed.
I didn’t want to get that far into this today, but I think the Christians need to get their eyes open to what is happening around us and recognize where God’s hand is at.
I’ve got a whole list that I will bring out during next years election process.
Let’s move on
1 Peter 2:18–23 NKJV
18 Servants, be submissive to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the harsh. 19 For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully. 20 For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God. 21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: 22 “Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth”; 23 who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;
1 Peter 2:18-
We may not be servants or slaves, but we all work for somebody. That man or woman is our authority.
I know who my authorities are where I work. I am older than some of them and no matter who I talk to, they are Mr. and Mrs.
They are Principal, vice principal and whatever title they have
I respect them. I do what they say even if it is not in our contract.
And you know what. Most of the time, I get treated pretty well in return.
When we were going before the school board for our jobs last year, guess who my co-workers asked to speak for them? ME
Guess why? They said I could speak well
But the overall point about me being the spokes person was that I would stay calm, and address the board right and make the points that needed to be made
without cussing and without frustration and anger
My brothers and sister, that’s who we need to be.
We bring Christ to our work places.
We treat our bosses and co-workers as Christ would treat them. No matter how nasty or how awful we think they might be.
Lastly,
1 Peter 3:1–7 NKJV
