CONTEXT

Pharaoh’s dream becomes reality
The famine hits home in Cannnan
Joseph’s first encounter with is brothers
Genesis 42:6–8 NKJV
Now Joseph was governor over the land; and it was he who sold to all the people of the land. And Joseph’s brothers came and bowed down before him with their faces to the earth. Joseph saw his brothers and recognized them, but he acted as a stranger to them and spoke roughly to them. Then he said to them, “Where do you come from?” And they said, “From the land of Canaan to buy food.” So Joseph recognized his brothers, but they did not recognize him.

Then Joseph remembered the dreams which he had dreamed about them, and said to them, “You are spies! You have come to see the nakedness of the land!”

Then they said to one another, “We are truly guilty concerning our brother, for we saw the anguish of his soul when he pleaded with us, and we would not hear; therefore this distress has come upon us.” And Reuben answered them, saying, “Did I not speak to you, saying, ‘Do not sin against the boy’; and you would not listen? Therefore behold, his blood is now required of us.”
Genesis 42:21-22

And bring your youngest brother to me; so your words will be verified, and you shall not die.” And they did so. Joseph understood their conversation and wept . He keeps Simeon and sends them away
They return and share with their father, Jacob
They return to Egypt with Benjamin
They return again but Joseph places his cup in Benjamin’s bag
They are intercepted and Benjamin was found with the cup
Judah interceded

REVEALED

Joseph’s emotions overwhelm him
Joseph couldn’t hide his feelings
Joseph reveals his identity to his brothers
Joseph gives more evidence of his identity

REMNANT

Joseph offers forgiveness and states his faith
Joseph explains the circumstances
Joseph explains God’s plan and providence
Joseph reaffirms his faith in God and His plan

REUNION

Joseph’s instructions to his brothers
He was anxious to see his father
Share the good news with their father
Joseph welcome all his family to come live near him
Joseph promises to provide for his family
Joseph assures his brothers again it was he
Joseph reconfirms the communication to share with his father and hurry back

RESTORED

Show of forgiveness and reconciliation
Forgiveness was offered to all

Conclusion:

So Joseph died, being one hundred and ten years old; and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.
