Origin: God
Origin: God
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Note: God is always consistent, and his word reflects that. God is Holy, and so is His word.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

B. God’s Word Never Fails
B. God’s Word Never Fails
There failed not ought of any good thing which the Lord had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Note: We can trust that God’s promises are true. We can have full confidence in what he says he will do.
Our faith lies in the object of our faith.
illustration:
How many of you have been on the zip line at the Wilds?
The amount of faith doesn’t matter.
example: Jesus said with faith the size of a grain of mustard seed, you could move mountains
why? because their faith was in Jesus Christ.

Theme: The tests of reality in the Christian life - Wiersbe
Note: Is Christ a reality in your life?
Note: the Key is fellowship with Christ
A. The Purpose
A. The Purpose
1. That they know they have Salvation by believing on the Son of God
1. That they know they have Salvation by believing on the Son of God
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.
I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake. I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
John wants all them to have their faith placed in Jesus Christ.
This is the only way for salvation
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
2. That their joy may be full
2. That their joy may be full

Question: How do these purposes get accomplished?
Ask yourself how each of these passages relate back to the overall purposes.
1.
And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
He that does not love does not know who?
2.
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
If we love God, what will not be grievous to us?
What overcomes the World?
1 John
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
Why shouldn’t we love the world?
3.
For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
1
But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
:
Why is our outward display of love important?
4.
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
1 John 4:
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
We love him, because he first loved us.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us.
5.
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
What gives us the victory over the world?
If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
What is greater than the witness of men?
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
What does God want us to know from this passage?
And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
Who is eternal life?
Wha are we supposed to keep ourselves from?
Application
Application
We must trust the Bible
Faith must produce works
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
King James Version Chapter 7
A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
We must grow in our Christian walks (progressive sanctification)
We must walk in the Spirit and allow the Spirit to produce fruit in our lives
illustration: If you planted a apple tree, and then the tree began to produce pears, would you still believe that the tree was an apple tree? Or, say you planted an apple tree, and it never produced any fruit at all, you would question weather its an apple tree.
This is my comfort in my affliction: For thy word hath quickened me.
