Unity & Diversity
(NIV)
3) For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.
4) For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,
5) so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
6) We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith;
7) if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach;
8) if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
Body Parts
Scientists discovered a new body part, a ligament in the knee now called anterolateral ligament in 2013 at the University of Leuven in Belgium.
The anterolateral ligament knee ligament was found to play a crucial part in anterior cruciate ligament tears. New research is being done on the ligament.
The skeletal system in the body is made up of 206 bones that are arranged in the axial skeletal system and the appendicular skeletal system. The axial skeletal system runs along the midline axis in the body and it is made up of 80 bones that include the skull, hyoid, auditory ossicles, ribs, sternum and vertebral column. The appendicular skeleton is made up of 126 bones that include the upper limbs, lower limbs, pelvic girdle and pectoral (shoulder) girdle.

There are three types of muscle tissue (more than 600 muscles) in the body including skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle and smooth muscle. Skeletal muscle is the kind of muscle that helps to create movement in the body. The skeletal muscles make up 40 percent of a person's body weight. Cardiac muscle is involuntary muscle in the body and make up the muscles found in the heart cavity. Smooth muscle is also an involuntary muscle, but it makes up the walls of organs, blood vessels and respiratory passageways.
The bible explains that we are made in God’s image. With this being the case, respect, should be given to everyone. No one should every think that they are more worthy, more important, more deserving, more essential that anyone else. different talents or gifts does not denote differences in worth, for all belong to the one body, to one another, and all are interdependent. All are intrinsically valuable and have great worth.
1) At Iconium Paul and Barnabas went as usual into the Jewish synagogue. There they spoke so effectively that a great number of Jews and Greeks believed.
The Power of Diversity
Having the greatest number of representatives from the most diverse pool of thinkers represents the most likely opportunity to address a problem from all its perspectives,” says William McDade, Associate Professor in Anesthesiology and Critical Care and the University’s deputy provost for research and minority issues. “A diverse group of scholars really means that you have the opportunity to advance knowledge in a more robust fashion.”
I decided years ago that I wouldn’t allow myself to get locked into a style of worship. Because worship is what we give to God and God is so vast that you cannot believe that your way of worshipping him is the only way.
In my quest to grow as a pastor, I decided to look at what other christians were doing that glorified God in ways that i might not have been exposed to.
What i started to discover was that the more diverse a ministry was, the expansive the the ministry became.
We fear that which is different because we were taught to. We learned to stay in familiar circles as a means of safety and survival. The more people stay in their bubbles, the more their fear what’s outside of their bubble.
grow myself mind, body and soul. employed diversity thinking to develop my Year to Wellness Program. I studied numerous cultures to find out which of their practices I could incorporate into my own life. I recommend that everyone go through a similar process, looking at different ways of doing things to find what works individually. Your mind, body, and spirit need new and diverse ideas to evolve.
We fear that which is different because we were taught to. We learned to stay in familiar circles as a means of safety and survival, just like the cave dwellers. But the human race evolved precisely because people left the cave, ventured out, interacted, and grew.
Most people are like cave dwellers. But someone many many moons ago decided that it might not be so bad to live outside of the cave, and ventured out, interacted, with the new environment and expanded.
We like things that are familiar
Illustration: There was a mother who decided to teach her daughter how to make grandma’s favorite ham. The mother showed her daughter how to apply the different spices to the ham. The mother then told the daughter that she had to trim the ham a certain way and that all of the spices and trimming aided in the special flavor of the ham.
The daughter asked her mom why did they have to trim the side of the ham that particular way. The mother said it brings out the flavor. One day the grandmother was visiting their home, the daughter remembered to ask her grandmother why did her special ham have to be trimmed in such a specific manner. The grandmother said, “Because that was the only pan I had.” The granddaughter said, “what does the pan have to do with it?” Grand mom replied, “The hams were too big for the pan so I had to trim it for it to fit.”
Sometimes we are like this in our worship. Because you were taught a certain way, exposed to certain things, we believe that what we’ve embraced is the only way to do things.
I love my heritage, my culture, and my family. I also love learning, and I’m constantly opening myself to new experiences and ideas. My family is like this. My wife has always been an adventurer. She doesn’t like being in a box. She loves to meet different people, dance, art, run marathons, rock climb, bike, and next is swimming lessons. She loves to learn about other cultures.
God uses me and speaks to me about appreciating different people and their giftings.
Build on the Strength
No Favoritism
(NIV)
1My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism.
2Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in filthy old clothes also comes in.
3If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say to the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,”
4have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?
5Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?
6But you have dishonored the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court?
7Are they not the ones who are blaspheming the noble name of him to whom you belong?
8If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right.
9But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers.
