NEW BIRTH through Christ Jesus

He saved us … He washed away our sins, giving us a New Birth and New Life through the Holy Spirit. 6 He generously poured out the Holy Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior.
Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”  “What do you mean?” exclaimed Nicodemus.
For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. I Peter 1:23

23 For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.

4 “What do you mean?” exclaimed Nicodemus. “How can an old man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again?”
2 Corinthians 5:15 NLT
He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.
2 Corinthians 5:15 NLT
He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.
2 Corinthians 5:15 NLT

Being alone.
Being lonely.
2 Corinthians 5:15 NLT
He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.
That’s just NOT how we’re designed.

Positive Sermon Outlines 27. What It Means to Be a Christian

What It Means to Be a Christian

“And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch” (Acts 11:26).

I. We Must Receive Christ

HOLY SPIRIT 101

What comes to your mind when you think about the Holy Spirit? It will be helpful to identify seven facts about Him.

Colossians 2:6–7 NLT
And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
The Holy Spirit Is the Indwelling Person
John 1:12 NKJV
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
When we receive Christ as Savior, He enters every life by virtue of the Holy Spirit. Christ has a glorified, physical body and is currently at the right hand of God the Father in heaven. It is the Holy Spirit whom Christ has sent to live inside us. “If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ,” the apostle Paul said, “he does not belong to Christ.” When the Bible says, “It is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose,”15 that work is being done by the Spirit.

Holy Spirit is indeed a Person. Consider the following descriptions that clearly identify His personhood:

• The Spirit has feelings. He feels affection, sadness, and even rejection.

• The Spirit has a will. He gives gifts to those He chooses. He speaks; He rebukes, corrects, and guides; He commands; and He leads.

• The Spirit has thoughts. He teaches, He witnesses, He prays, and He searches.

• The Spirit has desires. He calls people into service, and He convicts and convinces.

John 1:12 NLT
But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.
John 3:7 NLT
So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’
1. Do you believe? 2. Did you receive?
You must believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
Beyond belief, you must receive. My observations is that most of our emphasis about CHRIST is do you BELIEVE. Once people BELIVE they want to RECEIVE.
HOLY SPIRIT: My observation about the Holy Spirit is that most people believe in the HOLY SPIRIT, but many have never received the HOLY SPIRIT. Some talk … but they’ve not received the POWER, GIFT or the FRUIT of the the SPIRIT … in other words they are not kind, gentle, good, faithful, peace, patience, self control, joy, love ...
ILLUSTRATION:
Have you ever noticed the variety (i.e. styles of flowers)? Artificial (plastic), Fresh Cut Flowers (dying) and there are Authentic LIVING Flowers.

NEW LIFE through the Holy Spirit

Apart from me (without me) you can do nothing.
They prayed for the new believers to receive the Holy Spirit … laid their hands upon the new believers, and they received the Holy Spirit.
“Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” Paul asked them … he laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in other tongues.
Acts 2:38 NLT
Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Final Thought: Believe & Receive

Jesus breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”
“I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. Stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.”
“Receive the Holy Spirit.”
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.”
Holy Spirit comes upon you.”
