The Work of the Gospel Causes Mankind to be Aligned with God’s Will

Acts 16:6–10 NASB95
6 They passed through the Phrygian and Galatian region, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia; 7 and after they came to Mysia, they were trying to go into Bithynia, and the Spirit of Jesus did not permit them; 8 and passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas. 9 A vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing and appealing to him, and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” 10 When he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.
Look at the map for both Paul’s trek and the names of the seven churches. Gospel eventually goes to this area.
Gospel goes to Bithynia.
1 Peter 1:1–2 NASB95
1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who reside as aliens, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who are chosen 2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be yours in the fullest measure.
God guides man’s steps;
Proverbs 16:9 NASB95
9 The mind of man plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.
Proverbs 20:24 NASB95
24 Man’s steps are ordained by the Lord, How then can man understand his way?
Psalm 37:23 NASB95
23 The steps of a man are established by the Lord, And He delights in his way.

Prayer

Jesus our perfect model of prayer
Luke 4:42–43 NASB95
42 When day came, Jesus left and went to a secluded place; and the crowds were searching for Him, and came to Him and tried to keep Him from going away from them. 43 But He said to them, “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, for I was sent for this purpose.”
Luke 5:15–16 NASB95
15 But the news about Him was spreading even farther, and large crowds were gathering to hear Him and to be healed of their sicknesses. 16 But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.
Luke 6:12–13 NASB95
12 It was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God. 13 And when day came, He called His disciples to Him and chose twelve of them, whom He also named as apostles:
Luke 9:18–19 NASB95
18 And it happened that while He was praying alone, the disciples were with Him, and He questioned them, saying, “Who do the people say that I am?” 19 They answered and said, “John the Baptist, and others say Elijah; but others, that one of the prophets of old has risen again.”
Luke 9:28–29 NASB95
28 Some eight days after these sayings, He took along Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. 29 And while He was praying, the appearance of His face became different, and His clothing became white and gleaming.

Patience

Patience is often hard to gain and to maintain, but, in Rom 15:5, God is called “the God of patience” (ARVm “stedfastness”) as being able to grant that grace to those who look to Him and depend on Him for it. It is in reliance on God and acceptance of His will, with trust in His goodness, wisdom and faithfulness, that we are enabled to endure and to hope stedfastly. See also GOD.

Abraham as an example of Patience
Hebrews tells us this about Abraham.
Hebrews 6:13–15 NASB95
13 For when God made the promise to Abraham, since He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, 14 saying, “I will surely bless you and I will surely multiply you.” 15 And so, having patiently waited, he obtained the promise.
David says this in Psalm 25
Psalm 25:3–5 NASB95
3 Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed; Those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed. 4 Make me know Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths. 5 Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; For You I wait all the day.
