Grieve with the assurance of hope

1 Thessalonians 4:13–18 NKJV
13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
We grieve together When one of us is in pain we are all in pain , there is emotional suffering there is a great pain in our midst
The physical anguish and intense times
we sometimes think that our hearts have been wounded so badly that they will never recover
its always difficult to loose those close to us
this community our school has recently lost 3 way before there time way to young
its a shock that can be devastating on the heart and soul
however as much as we will grieve their loss how difficult it is to deal with the shock and pain of it all there is one certainty.
Death comes for us all it does not have prejudice against wealth race and nationality
It is a Foe we all will face one day, we each struggle with that reality in our own way, some ignore it like it will never happen to them some cower in fear of the very thought that one day will be their last some rejoice in that day having hop in what is to come
These children are gone way before their time never the less they are gone.
You can have hope the Apostle Paul said “For me to live is Christ But for Me to Die is Gain”
We can have hope through Christ that yes one day we too will meet our Foe but in Christ is Gain
Paul recognized here that to live is Christ to serve him to bring forth his kingdom to Die is Gain to Die is to go and find our rewards in Heaven at the feet of the Father
For many of us death is a lonely road even today as we grieve even though we are surrounded by loved ones we suffer in our own way.
The questions of Why did this? ‘What if I could have, If I only
1. Take captive the negative thoughts
If we fail to take captive these thoughts they will drive us into a depressed state
2 Corinthians 10:5 NKJV
5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
2. Have the faith to remain steadfast in trials
James 1:12 NKJV
12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
Ive seen people struck down when tradgady strike their life
ive seen others grieve then seem to bounce right back whats the difference?
One is focused on the world and what it has to offer
One is focused on the kingdom and its promises
3. Stay focused on the Kingdom and His Promises
Psalm 91:14–15 NKJV
14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. 15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.
psalm 91:
