This leaves us with the other prominent James in the NT: James the brother of the Lord. He is mentioned in the Gospels (; ), but he became a follower of Jesus only after the resurrection (cf. and ). He attained a position of leadership in the early church (), where we find him dialoging with Paul about the nature and sphere of the gospel ministry (; ; ; , ).
