Is Genesis True (Creation)

Introduction

Last week, we looked at the flood - Is there evidence around us that this earth has experienced a world wide flood as Genesis claims

Tonight, we look at creation

Last week - I said there are two options - The Secular view or the Biblical view

The secular view is this:

After the big bang, galaxies, solar systems began to form all over the universe. Planets form when pieces of a star shoot them out. Earth began to cool. The most excepted theory now is that all of the water on earth came from passing comets. Somewhere in the depths of the ocean non living chemicals arranged themselves into living chemicals. These chemicals (premordial ooze) began to (for no reason) for other organisms. First, simple single-celled organisms. Then more advanced organisms. With enough time, eventually evolution leads to all of the creatures we see today.

This would take, of course, billions of years. And is based upon complete random accidents

The theory came about by Charles Darwin (a man very bitter about the death of his 9 year old daughter)

Darwin had study for the ministry, he then abandoned it to pursue the natural sciences

His entire theory is based upon the fact that birds(fenches) he study in the Galopolis islands had slightly different shaped beaks

From there he went on to right a history that excluded God and tried to explain creation without a creator

He was a very racist and bigoted man. The actual title of his book - The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection: The Preservation of Favored Races in the Struggle for Life

The Biblical world view: That God created the earth in six literal days and the universe has only been here for less than 10,000 years

There are some if not many that say that Genesis does not mean what it says - It is just allegory.

My question is this - If God was not telling the truth in Genesis, at what point did he start. Why should I believe the gospels if I can not trust Genesis.

What does the evidence support - The Secular story or the Genesis account

Evidence for Creation and a Young Earth

1. Sediment on the Ocean Floor

Every year water and wind erode about 20 billion tons of dirt and rock debris from the continents and deposit them on the seafloor.1 (Figure 1). Most of this material accumulates as loose sediments near the continents. Yet the average thickness of all these sediments globally over the whole seafloor is not even 1,300 feet (400 m).2

2. Magnetic Field of The Earth

The earth is surrounded by a magnetic field that protects living things from solar radiation. Without it, life could not exist. That’s why scientists were surprised to discover that the field is quickly wearing down. At the current rate, the field and thus the earth could be no older than 20,000 years old.

3. Population Curves

Population curves are exponential - 2 to 4 -16 -256 - 14336

We should be able to look at the current population (taking into account death rates) and back track to the approximate age in which we started with two people

It goes back about 4400 years - About the time of the flood

Secularists say that humans have been around for a million years - If that is true what should the population of the earth be

Lets just say 50,000 years

In contrast, even a conservative evolutionary age of 50,000 years comes out to a staggering, impossibly high figure of 10 to the 99th power—greater than the number of atoms in the universe!

There would not be enough space in our solar system for all of the dead

Evidence that Contradicts Evolution

1. The Past - The Fossil Record

If evolution is true, the fossil record should be full of transitional species

For example, evolutionist claim that fish came out of the ocean to eventually become cows. And that cows went back into the oceans to eventually become whales. Therefore in the fossil record, we should see Fish-cows and Cow-whales. But we don’t - we only see complete finished animals

There is not one

2. The Present - The Absence of Evidence of Evolution Currently

We don’t observe life coming from no life and we don’t observe transitional species right now

3. The Future - Evolution would break the 2nd law of thermodynamics

The main scientific reason why there is no evidence for evolution in either the present or the past (except in the creative imagination of evolutionary scientists) is because one of the most fundamental laws of nature precludes it. The law of increasing entropy -- also known as the second law of thermodynamics -- stipulates that all systems in the real world tend to go "downhill," as it were, toward disorganization and decreased complexity.

The Theological Problem of Evolution

23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—

Death was a product of sin - Adam’s sin - Death can not come before Adam

What’s the Big Deal?

Evolutionary teaching is at the root of culture decay

If Genesis is Rejected what would we expect?

A Culture that sees itself not as created in God’s Image but a Cosmic accident

The murder of children would be OK

Homosexuality would be OK

Placing animals equal with humans

Destruction of the family unity

Rejection of the Gospel
