Introduction:
(AV) 4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
Most recently i purchased some fabric from Africa, so my wife (Genesis) could make her a dress . she went out and brought a pattern to give her direction. on the pattern was a picture of the dress. what the dress would look like. it gave her a vision image what the end result would be if she followed the details on the pattern
Today i want to talk about Jesus’ Model for Ministry with the subtitle The four M’s of Jesus Model (The Messenger, The Message, The Mission and the Means.
These twelves Jesus sent out after instructing them:

The Messengers ...

Mt. 10:1-4

Jesus’s disciples … those who has received the teaching of Jesus [Learn Christ] and now are assisting in the spreading of the “good news” [Share Christ]
v.1 Jesus summoned (called) His twelve disciples
those who has been chosen by God
“He gave them Authority” … “exousia” [ex er see ha] … the right to control or govern over
(NASB95) 1 And He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases.
“control” … And He healed many who were ill with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He was not permitting the demons to speak, because they knew who He was.
“control” … And He healed many who were ill with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He was not permitting the demons to speak, because they knew who He was.
34 And He healed many who were ill with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He was not permitting the demons to speak, because they knew who He was.
in other words, Jesus has given us … “exousia” [ex er see ha] the power and authority to carry out the ministry that he has called us to
His strength is made perfect in our weakness ... human inability
Who are these disciples? What make them special or unique? Fishermen, tax collector and Simon the Zealot (radical)
many of us disqualify ourselves but we must remember it is Jesus who qualify us ... For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
No prior experience required
Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed, and began to recognize them as having been with Jesus.
many times we focus on the fact we are not educated or trained in the area of ministry without acknowledging the we have been with Jesus
They recognized …
Being with Jesus give us confident because of the these we have witness … his ways, words and works

The Message … , “Do not go and do not enter” and “The Kingdom of God is at Hand”

The message of Jesus is twofold: one is directional and the second is informational
First of all I want to look at … His Message (Jesus), it is directional
on the surface, Jesus words seem as if they are prohibiting us from sharing the gospel … Listen to this passage

These twelve Jesus sent out after instructing them: “Do not go in the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter any city of the Samaritans;

Do not go … Do not enter
it is not time … nor the season
Acts 1:8
Remember Jesus’ declaration in … the harvest is plentiful
Listen to Jesus’ instruction unto his followers … Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
Jesus was not inhibiting their efforts but directing them to where the harvest was ripe
reminds us that one will plant and another will water but God gives the increase
Jesus was directing them to their mission field (target audience)
but rather go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel

Jesus message was informative: “And you go, preach, saying, The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”

Why did he not instruct his disciples to preach or say what he said in Repent, the kingdom of Heaven at hand
“The kingdom of Heaven is at hand”
Remember in when Jesus took the scroll from the book of Isaiah sixty first chapter … The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
The Kingdom of Heaven is about the needs of the people

The Mission … Heal … raise … cleanse … cast out …

on the surface these instructions sound impossible
1 And He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases.
[
but these are things Jesus had done in their presence and he told us in John 14:12
Jesus’ healed Peter’s mother in law
Heal the woman with the issue of blood
raised Jairus daughter from the dead
cleanse a man of leprosy
Jesus set Legion free from the demons of his life
Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father.
The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven.
Listen to the imperative/command of Jesus
“Freely you received, free give”
Grace, Peace, Joy, Mercy, Love
The Means … Do not acquire … whatever city or village … whoever
But Peter said, “I have no silver or gold, but what I have I give you; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, stand up and walk.”
feeding the five thousands … you give them something to eat
verses 9-10 tells us do not worry about the provision
Whoever observes the wind will not sow; and whoever regards the clouds will not reap.
verses 11-15 attitude, gratitude and rejection
Jesus reminds us they are not rejecting us the messenger but the message
they rejected Jesus … he came unto his own and they recieved him not
they crucified him … they mock him … the split on him … put a crown of throne on his head … they pierce him in the side … nails in his hand
they pierce him in the side … nails in his hand
he was bruised for our inquiries and wounded for transgression and the chastisement of out sin was laid up on him
He died on that Friday , that’s day one … stay there for day two but on that third day, early one Sunday morning he got up … with all power ...
