<Explanation of today's bible story>
<Explanation of today's bible story>
Let's see Daniel's story.
First, Let’s see his situation.
Daniel was a person of Israel.
But in the age of Daniel, his nation, Israel, was destroyed by Babylon.
At that time, Babylon took many people as slave.
So, Daniel and his friends became slaves.
At that time, The king of Babylon ordered to his servant.
<>
Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, chief of his court officials, to bring into the king’s service some of the Israelites from the royal family and the nobility—
"Select some youth from Israel slave.
and.. teach them for three years. After the time, I will test them and they will work for me."
Fortunately, Daniel and his friend were selected by king.
So... they were trained.
The King gave his food to them.
"Give my food to them”
The food and wine are so good and delicious. That is king’s food.
So... the selected boys could be trained and eat the king’s food always.
But Daniel did not want to eat the food.
Because the food came from idol's sacrifice.
and.. He knew that God dislike idol.
So.. Daniel resolved not to eat the food and wine.
and..
1. Daniel knew the will of God.
He told it to his friends.
“My friend.. Do you know .. the food is idol’s food. God dislike us to eat the food.”
“What? really?”
“What should we do?”
“How about not to eat the food?”
“Let us not eat the food.”
“OK.”
So, they all decided not to eat the food.
and then, they went to a chief official and said to him.
"Chief official, I do not want to the food and wine.
because God dislike for us to eat the food.
We don't want to defile ourselves this way.
Give us just vegetable not the food.”
So, Daniel and his friends went to the chief official and said their resolution.
What happened?
10 but the official told Daniel,
“No… If you do not eat the food and then you do not keep your health, the king would kill me because of you”
11 Daniel then said to him.
12 “Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. 13 Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see.”
14 So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days.
15 At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food.
16 So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead.
17 To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds.
18 At the end of the time set by the king to bring them into his service, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzar. 19 The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king’s service. 20 In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom.
This is the story of Daniel.

20 In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use.
21 Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.
22 Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
and...
Today's bible have another story.
One day, the king had a dream.
His mind was troubled and he could not sleep.
So.. the king summoned the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologers.
and said.
"I had dream. Who can interpret?"
"Tell me your dream. I will interpret it."
"Can you really interpret the dream?"
"yes.. lord.. tell me .."
"Ok.. If you don't interpret my dream, I will kill you and your family.. OK?"
"Yes.. Tell me.. Lord."
"No. I don't tell my dream to you. Because, If you can interpret my dream, you can say what I had dream. Tell me.. What dream did I have?"
"oh.. King.. This is impossible.. Who can tell your dream? No one can reveal it to the king except the gods?"
So.. the king was so angry and said.
"Kill all the wise man in Babylon."
It is so dangerous to Daniel and his friends.
At that time, Daniel said to king's officer.
"Give me for a moment. I will say the dream."
and.. Daniel returned to his house and...
explained the matter to his friends.
and..
Daniel selected to pray to God with his friends.
Actually, It is impossible to know other's dream.
but... When Daniel was praying to God, God revealed the dream to Daniel.
So.. Daniel said the dream to the king.
and.. interpret the dream.
The king was so astonished.
Let's see the result.
46 Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell prostrate before Daniel and paid him honor and ordered that an offering and incense be presented to him.
47 The king said to Daniel, “Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery.”
48 Then the king placed Daniel in a high position and lavished many gifts on him. He made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and placed him in charge of all its wise men.
49 Moreover, at Daniel’s request the king appointed Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego administrators over the province of Babylon, while Daniel himself remained at the royal court.
